Everyone who meets Phaedra falls in love with her sweet personality, puppy face and willingness to please. She doesn’t have a bad bone in her body. For a young dog, she has equal parts maturity and playfulness, which is the best of both worlds. She’s also got the sparkliest of black coats ✨

Phaedra loves being with her people but in nicer weather she often slinks away and can be found on her own sunbaking in the middle of the lawn in various weird positions. In the early days, she gave us a good fright as we looked out the back window and saw her splayed out on her back and not moving 😅 don’t worry, she was just snoozin’! Her perchant for sunbaking does not align with her coat colour though, so she does the five mins in, five mins out method ☀️

She loves meeting and playing with dogs of all sizes and would do best with a medium or large companion. She is equally happy in her own company and can be left alone with the right enrichment activities.

Her love language is physical touch, and by touch, we mean with her tongue. She’s a big fan of showing her appreciation, excitement and sympathy by giving licks. Sometimes it’s the back of your calf while walking, other times it’s a cheeky lick of your hand while it’s by your side. Not even dogs are immune but mine love to be bathed. She’s just letting you know she’s with you and she loves you. It’s a quirk that you’ll need to tolerate if you want to spend your life with this lovely little lady.

Phaedra’s willingness to please makes her a quick study. In only three short repetitions she understood she would only get a pat if she sat and now shows up the resident dog with her patient and prompt sitting skills. She’s a very good girl that is perfectly toilet and crate trained and it’s obvious she has had some time spent on her in the past, despite finding her way into a pound. Her receptiveness and willing to please nature would make her very good at Rally-O or trick training!

Whilst she has not been tested with children, she has a wonderful temperament and we believe she would be fine with kids 8+ that are dog experienced as she can sometimes get excited and bouncy.

Phaedra would make the perfect addition to many families!
