About Dairy Queen
*In foster care in Austral, Sydney*
Our shy girl Dairy Queen has come so far—from a scared and hiding pregnant cat to an affectionate queen who runs to the couch for her nightly pats. But her journey isn’t over just yet! She was recently diagnosed with asthma, which means she needs a puffer to help her breathe easy. Right now, she’s learning to use her spacer, and she’s absolutely *loving* her training (mostly because it involves lots of tasty treats!). The good news is that her medication is fairly low cost, with a script from your vet you can fill it at you local chemist and not break the bank. What’s a spacer? Basically it’s a plastic cup you plug the puffer into and encourage your feline friend to place their snoot into so they can effectively inhale their puff of medication (it’s actually the same device used for human kids). Dairy Queen may have had a rough start, but she’s blossoming into the sweetest couch companion. She’s still waiting for a home—could it be yours?
While a little coy at first, this elegant girl soon seeks out cuddles, happily making biscuits, and showing her appreciation with a firm head bump. She’s also quite the character, with strong opinions about the washing machine in particular. The last three minutes of the spin cycle? She’s walking around, meowing, making sure everyone knows it’s not to her liking!
Dairy Queen is about three years old, still adding a bit of weight to help fill out her fluffy coat, we have been amazed watching her signature bushy tail getting fluffier every day :)
MY IDEAL HOME: I'm seeking a calm, relaxed sort of home where I can be the center of attention! A kind and patient person, couple, or family with older kids willing to let me settle in at my own pace will be my purrfect match. I have been recently diagnosed with asthma, it doesn’t hold me back from living the good life but I do need my puffer to ensure I don’t get short of breath. If my family can help me continue to get used to using my spacer delivery will become a breeze (well a puff), right now I’m not too sure about sticking my nose firmly in there but a smear of treats is definitely building my confidence and my foster mum will show you what it’s all about.
MY ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a mellow lady, I'm a big fan of cosy cuddles while lounging around, though I do have occasional bursts of activity. I’ve also been learning to play with toys, my previous life on the streets didn’t have such things, could you show me your favourite games?
When I'm ready for affection, I'll let you know with a nudge or a well-placed bum in the face!
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Older kids (8+ ideally) who understand the needs of a gentle cat would be a good match.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: I think I'd thrive as the only pet in a serene home, but I might adjust to a home with a calm, non-dominant furry friend who is happy to coexist.
Medical notes

Adoption details
We ask all people looking to adopt to fill in our adoption enquiry form at https://form.jotform.co/92940837256870. Please use this link rather than the 'Enquire' button on the pet's PetRescue profile to streamline your enquiry.
Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two-week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
Please consider, that a Maggie's Pet is a pet for Life, before adopting.
