About Iggy
Meet Iggy – the sweetest little gentleman around!
This little one is simply a delight. His foster carer’s say he is the easiest foster they have ever had and a pleasure to have around. Once Iggy settled into his foster home, he showed us what a cuddly and happy character he is. Belly rubs are high on his list of favourite things, and he loves to have a run around. Iggy also likes water and is not opposed to bath time and loves trips to the beach/bay where he can splash around in the water. This playful boy always puts a smile on your face when you are watching him have fun and he is bound to bring a lot of happiness to his new home. Iggy is always up for a game of fetch with the ball or frisbee but is equally happy to chill on the couch with you when it is rest time as well.
Iggy found himself in a rural pound and we don’t know his background. He is nervous with new people he hasn’t met before and needs a little bit of time to get to know you. Give him this time and start offering some yummy morsels of food (where is that BBQ chicken?!), and he will start to trust you in a couple of days. Once you have his trust, he becomes your new best friend and will show you the happy side to him we see in his foster home. Iggy will be best suited to an adult only home with someone who understands he just needs that little bit of time to settle in. He is not suited to just being a house dog though, as he loves getting out and about with his people for daily walks and to explore new places. Iggy’s new owner will need to be able to continue to build his confidence out and about as city/suburban life is still all new for him.
While in care, Iggy has been living as an only dog, but he is social with other doggies as well. He is confident with other small and medium dogs; however, big boisterous ones are a bit intimidating for him. Iggy would be happy to share his home with another small/medium doggy friend who has a happy go lucky personality. He currently shares his foster home with a couple of felines who he just ignores most of the time, so he is fine to live with dog friendly cats who won’t bully him.
Iggy is excellent around the home and has good general manners. He is food motivated and would be happy to learn more tricks if you want to teach him. At this stage, he walks fine on the lead, is learning sit, and understands the stay command. Iggy is toilet trained and travels great in the car, so he is the perfect little companion to accompany you on trips, outings or errands. He is also fine when left home alone, though he is always happier if his people are around and gets very happy when his foster carers return home to him.
We are looking for a dog experienced home for Iggy where he will be a loved member of the family and included in the daily activities and outings. He can be an only dog or live with a friend, but it would be great if his owners are around more often than not rather than being out long hours every day as he really just loves hanging with his people and having companionship. He will definitely need someone home most of the time for the first couple of weeks while he settles in. Iggy is best suited to having a yard to run around in but he is a little dog so will need secure fencing that doesn’t have holes he could fit through. He is fine with children but being scared of strangers, he will need an adult managing any interactions he has, and he is best suited to an adult only home. Iggy is a true little gem of a dog and whoever gets to adopt him will be truly blessed – there is just no other way to put it.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
