About Rocky
Hi! I’m Rocky and I’m looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR ROCKY
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/FYgWeNfR6MBPAYTu5
NOTE: You are unable to meet Rocky until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Rocky in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family
• I like both friendly male and female dogs
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• Lots of love and attention
• I can be shy at first so I need a family who’ll allow me to grow in confidence in my own time
• I have lots of energy so an active family is a must
• Being an active breed I have a lot of energy so an active family is a must!
• Doggy daycare and group socialisation classes would be highly beneficial for me.
• A doggie companion is a MUST to keep me company when my family isn't home or a family that is home all the time. I suffer from separation anxiety which results in barking and possible destructive behaviours.
• SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a very sheltered life and can be a bit nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc.) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence
• NO CATS, I have previously lived with a cat however would like to chase them
Things that I don’t want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• No young children as I can be a bit shy in new situations and with new people and little ones may accidently scare me. Older children who will be involved with my training and confidence building should be ok.
My best features:
• LOVES people once he knows you.
• Gentle & placid
• I can sit & shake hands.
• I know my basic doggie commands
• Happy to hang out with other friendly dogs
• I am clever and eager to learn so would love a family who will teach me some cool tricks.
• I love attention, hugs, kisses & head scratches
• Well mannered
• I walk well on lead for an inexperienced doggo but having daily walks should help me improve my lead skills.
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I've only just learnt to walk on the lead since being at the shelter so I'm still a bit erratic but lots of walks will help me learn how to be great on the lead.
• I am shy at first with new people and in new environments so will require a family who will take their time allowing me to settle in and continue on with my socialization
• I have shown signs of anxiety when I'm left alone, ideally i need another dog to keep me company or someone/a family who is home a lot and has the time to help me settle into my new life and get over this separation anxiety.
