Mochi

Meet Mochi, a big, shy cat who transforms into the cuddliest, teddy bear of a companion once he feels comfortable. We’ve nicknamed him "Moccasin" because he’s large, fluffy, and always nearby, usually close to your feet.

Mochi came to us from a rural pound, where he had a rough start in life. While we don’t know all he's been through, it’s clear this gentle giant had some frightening experiences with people. When he first arrived in foster care, he was timid and withdrawn, but with some patience and love, Mochi has blossomed, revealing his deep affection for people.

Now, he’s the kind of cat who’ll run ahead to claim his spot on the bed, eager for pets and cuddles before lights out. Mochi loves being close to his foster family and relishes chin scratches and head pats. He can sometimes play a little rough, unaware of his own strength, but his foster family is teaching him that feet are not for nibbling, and he’s making great progress! Lately, he’s discovered a new favorite—tennis balls!

Mochi is FIV positive, but he’s in excellent health. He currently lives with other cats, although he can be a bit bossy, so he’d do best with a calm, friendly feline companion or as a solo kitty. He even gets along with dogs, having learned to share his space with a resident terrier.

Don’t let distance be a worry! His foster family frequently travels to Melbourne and would be happy to bring Mochi to meet his new family wherever they may be.
