About Austin
Austin’s personality: This gorgeous and happy little guy is an absolute delight. He has the sweetest nature - he’s gentle, playful, not overbearing or demanding, and loves cuddles. He enjoys playing with other small doggies without displaying any dominant behaviours and will sit quietly, watching all the goings on around him without making a noise. We have yet to hear him bark! Austin will make a fantastic addition to any home
Austin’s ideal forever home: With his beautiful nature, Austin is adaptable and would suit any home. However, the best home for him would be relatively quiet—one where he won’t get over-excited. Being a brachycephalic breed, Austin’s airways must not be under too much stress. He doesn’t require a lot of exercise but would enjoy a yard to sniff around in and regular walks for entertainment and muscle development.
Austin’s story: Although it is difficult to believe, Austin, at only two years of age, came into our care from Taree Pound. We don’t know how he ended up there, but he was pretty underweight and had some skin infections. So, he came to Sweet Pea under Duty of Care so that we could work on improving his weight and dealing with his skin issues. He initially stayed in a wonderful foster home while he got back on his paws.
Austin’s medical history: As with all Frenchie’s, Austin needs to be kept cool and reasonably calm—getting too hot or too excited can lead to breathing difficulties. Also prone to his breed, he has luxating patella’s in both hind legs, a condition where the kneecap dislocates or moves out of its usual location. However, these have not caused him any issues or discomfort at this stage.
Medical notes
Austin has Grade 2 & 3 luxating Patella's but these have not caused him any problems or discomfort at this stage. He also has a broken canine tooth that was x-rayed when he was desexed. It has a healthy root without any infection and so has not been removed.
