About Douglas
Meet Douglas, a charming 6-month-old Dachshund with a lot of love to give. Though he's a bit shy at first, his sweet nature shines through once he gets to know you. Patience and gentle interactions are key to forming a strong bond with this lovable little pup. He's eager to embrace his new family with a warm heart and endless wagging tail. Douglas is especially friendly with other small breed dogs, and he seems to have a good rapport with cats, promising seamless integration into a home with furry companions.
Douglas is still very much a puppy at heart, ready to embark on adventures that life has to offer. His inquisitive nature means he's often found exploring his surroundings, and he's happiest with lots of opportunities for these stimulating activities. He could use a bit of training to improve his lead walking skills and basic commands, setting a wonderful foundation for a well-behaved adult dog. As he barks at stimuli, continued socialization and exposure to new sounds will aid in his confidence-building. But have no fear—Douglas is a quick learner and will thrive in an environment that provides these experiences.
For a home with another dog, Douglas would be a wonderful addition, eagerly playing and engaging with his fellow buddy. With his heartwarming affection, Douglas will enjoy cuddles and pats with equal enthusiasm. He hasn't shown signs of separation anxiety, likely because he's been around other dogs, so having a canine companion in his new home would be advantageous.
Douglas is ready to transform your home into a haven of love and joy, and he can't wait to meet his new family to start creating treasured memories together.

Adoption details
Our adoption process is easy. You will receive a application for the animals you are interested in. Please full that in and send it back to us.
Even though you may be first to message, this does not always guarantee you will be chosen to adopt. By no means do we run on a "first in, first served basis". We aim to ensure that our animals are adopted into the most suitable home for them and the new family.
With all our animals, we go on what our vet has told us and what we believe the breed and age to be. We never guarantee the breed or age but take the best educated guess.
Please note: Our shelter is located in the Snowy Mountains. We are a 5 hour drive from Sydney and Melbourne and 2 to 3 hours from Canberra.
