About Smokey
Hi there, I'm Smokey, and guess what? I'm turning 10 on the 25th of October! I'm hoping to find a loving home where I can celebrate my big day, because the only thing that would make this birthday truly special is having a family to call my own. I'm a handsome boy, if I do say so myself, and I love the simple pleasures in life-like just hanging out with my favorite people, going on casual walks, and soaking up the good vibes around me.
I'm a real social butterfly, always excited to meet new folks, and I've never met a dog I didn't like. In fact, I'd be the perfect companion in a home with another dog; I really thrive when I have a furry buddy to share my days with. My best mate back in the day was actually a rooster, so it's safe to say I'm pretty open-minded when it comes to making friends! I'm gentle and easygoing, and while I still love a good adventure, I'm just as happy spending quiet moments with my loved ones.
Exploring is one of my favorite things to do. I might be getting older, but I'm still young at heart, and I get a real kick out of sniffing around new places and taking in all the sights and sounds on my walks. I've got plenty of energy when it's time to head out, but I also know how to enjoy the slower pace of life, and I'm more than content to just relax at home, basking in a sunny spot or cuddled up next to you.
I'd do best in a home with older kids who understand that I'm not a puppy anymore-I've earned my gray whiskers and I appreciate when people respect my age and let me take things at my own pace. But that doesn't mean I'm not up for fun! I've still got plenty of love to give and memories to make, and I'm hoping to find a family who will share in all of that with me.
So, if you've got room in your heart and your home for a friendly, laid-back, and loyal guy like me, I promise I'll make every day feel like a celebration. Let's make my 10th birthday the best one yet, together!

Adoption details
BARC adoption officers will work with you to help you find a dog or cat that matches your needs, they will discuss things like yard fencing, exercise requirements, other pets and family members, lifestyle factors, and breed experience. To help make this as quick and easy as possible, we ask you complete and adoption questionnaire (located on our website, or you can complete on when you visit). This helps ensure that we are introducing you to the most suitable animals we have available.
We encourage all members of the household to attend a meet and greet with a pet prior to adopting an animal. If the animal being adopted is a dog, we will also require existing dogs in the household to attend the shelter as part of the meet and greet.
Holds can not be placed on animals over the phone, and can only be applied at the discretion of management.
