About Max SUA013017
Meet Max, a sweet and endearing fellow with a heart full of love to give. Max might be a bit timid when meeting new people or in unfamiliar environments, but given time and patience, he reveals his wonderful, gentle nature. This affectionate boy blossoms in a quiet home where he can feel secure and cherished.
Max is the perfect companion for someone who enjoys quiet companionship and is willing to take the time to help him adjust to his new surroundings. He prefers a calm household without the hustle and bustle of children or canine companions, allowing him to settle in and feel at ease. Once Max feels comfortable, he will show you boundless affection, and his gentle spirit will capture your heart.
Due to some medical issues—specifically his abnormally enlarged, irregularly sized kidneys—Max requires consideration and care. One of our vets will discuss Max’s medical background with his potential adopters. To ensure his safety and well-being, Max must remain an indoor-only cat.
If you're looking for a loving and gentle companion who will thrive in a peaceful environment and are ready to provide him with the care he deserves, Max is ready to become a cherished part of your life.
Medical notes
On physical examination, it was noted that Max's kidneys felt abnormal. An ultrasound was performed which confirmed his kidneys were abnormally enlarged and shaped. A fine needle aspiration of his kidneys was collected and the sample was submitted to a pathology laboratory. It was found that the cells of his kidneys were of
variable sizes, which can sometimes be indicative of cancerous changes.
Unfortunately the laboratory could not say if this was cancer or not. A blood test was collected and his kidney enzymes were normal. Anaemia was present, which can be indicative of kidney disease. A urine sample was collected and it was found he had protein in his urine. This can be an indication of kidney disease. We have started him on a medication to reduce the amount of protein in his urine, which can in turn support his kidneys
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
