Socks

Say hello to easy-going companion, Socks! He may have been named after footwear, but this tuxedo gentleman's most handsome attribute is his dapper white moustache.

Socks is a charming middle-aged guy who loves a head rub, a chest rub and a warm lap to cuddle up on. He'll happily keep an eye on you as you go about your day, but is never demanding. He'll curl up beside you on your bed, keep your paperwork warm and help with the sewing and mending. He's happy to engage in a little play with a toy and will demonstrate his lightning left paw (dubbed the 'Sock Swipe'), but most of the time he's happy to lounge about, blink and purr.

Socks loves being brushed with a puppy slicker and will purr blissfully as you brush him. He will chat back to you when you speak to him, especially at meal times. Socks is a smart fellow and can be easily trained with food rewards. In his foster home, Socks very quickly learned to hop up on the bench for his medication and even to sit for a treat.

Socks would prefer a home with older children or adults, who won't carry him around, because he prefers to use his own feet to get about. He will need some time to settle in and a safe space to hide initially, but with a gentle and patient family who don't mind letting him take his time, he will emerge from his safe space to demonstrate the loving, sweet and friendly guy he is. He would love to have a tall cat-scratching pole and could be trained to use it with treats and praise. Socks could live with a gentle family dog, with very slow introductions, and has lived with a dog in his foster home.
