On Hold
About Salt - 8 Week Old Kelpie X (hold)
Introducing Salt, our handsome 8-week-old male kelpie cross puppy! With his soft, grey coat and irresistibly cute floppy ears, this little man is a true showstopper. His striking blue eyes add to his charm and make him simply unforgettable! Salt is a quiet and gentle soul who thrives on affection. He adores cuddles, long naps, and those delightful belly rubs that make his little tail wag with joy.
While he enjoys a bit of rough and tumble with his lively siblings, he prefers playtime to be a bit more relaxed - not too much rowdiness for this cutie! You might find Salt perched quietly by himself, taking in the world around him or lounging peacefully in the sun. Salt’s calm demeanour makes him an ideal companion for families or individuals seeking a loving, laid-back puppy. He’s the kind of boy who will snuggle up next to you on the couch, content just to be by your side, loving every moment.
Salt has been raised by loving foster carers in a home environment, and melts hearts everywhere he goes. When it’s time to socialise, Salt always makes sure to greet his older foster siblings and other dogs, often rolling onto his back and inviting all the licks and sniffs, showcasing his truly trusting nature. He has shown no tendencies towards chasing cats or birds, and tends to ignore them until his siblings notify him of their presence. He is a sweet puppy who loves to take in the world around him and has already been on camping trips with his carers. While not as extroverted as his siblings he loved soaking in the warmth of the fire on his carer’s lap.
Salt will grow up to be a medium/large dog. We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and training. As he is a mixed working breed dog, Salt will grow into an intelligent and energetic boy and will require a family who is able to cater to this by taking him for regular walks and ensuring his enrichment needs are met at home.
As Salt is so young, he would benefit immensely from having a confident and calm dog friend at home to help guide him as he grows. If you don't have another dog to keep him company, then there needs to be someone at home with him all day, making sure he is the centre of their world.
Salt needs to be welcome inside when people are home, and to sleep inside at least until fully grown. He needs to be kept nice and warm, and would love a comfy bed with soft toys and blankets to nestle into. He is already showing some promise with toilet training and with consistent access to the outdoors, he has very few accidents indoors.
Salt will be an excellent family dog and with the right training, socialisation and enrichment, he will be suitable for families with children of any age. You will need good fencing with no small gaps and it must be at least 6ft tall. He can't go to any properties which have rural fencing (eg: mesh or wire).
Salt’s siblings, Basil, Chilli, Chai, Jammy, Oreo, Clover, and Pepper, are also available for adoption and would love to meet their forever families.
Salt’s adoption fee is $700 which includes his desexing when he is old enough. It also includes his first two vaccinations. He has been treated for fleas and worms, and is microchipped.
Salt is in foster care in Stroud, NSW. Since he is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to the Lower Hunter region (Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland and Cessnock) plus Central Coast and Sydney. He'll need to be returned to one of our approved vets for desexing when he's 5 to 6 months old.
