About Oreo - 8 Week Old Kelpie X (Trial)
Meet Oreo, our adorable 8-week-old, Kelpie cross girl! With her lovely mottled black and white coat, she’s not just a treat for the eyes - she’s a bundle of joy ready to fill your home with love! Oreo’s charisma and charm meant that her carers fell in love with her as soon as they saw her. Her one floppy ear and cute little bark certainly helped her cause! Oreo is highly intelligent and very curious, always exploring her surroundings and eager to learn new things. Her confident and outgoing nature has made her a joy to introduce to other dogs, and she is more than willing to approach her elder foster siblings for a play, which just happens to be Oreo’s favourite activity! Oreo loves nothing more than playing tug-of-war with her siblings and showing off how strong and clever she is, often taking the toy for a victory lap around her pen. Once her energy wears off though, you can find this sweet girl napping in the sun or cuddled up on her carer's lap.
Oreo has been raised by loving foster carers in a home environment, and has shown her confident and affectionate nature towards every dog she meets (no matter the size!). She also loves visits from her human friends, and is more than happy to play with her carer’s young nephews. She has shown some tendencies towards chasing birds, and tends to bark and run towards any near her pen. However, she has not shown any interest in cats. Oreo is a very independent puppy who is keen on adventures, and she has already been on camping trips with her carers where she loved having her foster carers chase her all around the campsite.
Oreo will grow up to be a medium/large dog. We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and training. As she is a mixed working breed dog, Oreo is already showing that she is a very intelligent and energetic girl and will require a family who is able to cater to this by taking her for regular walks and ensuring her enrichment needs are met at home. She would love to be a part of every adventure your family goes on.
As Oreo is so young, she would benefit immensely from having a confident and calm dog friend at home to help guide her as she grows. If you don't have another dog to keep her company, then there needs to be someone at home with her all day, making sure she is the centre of their world.
Oreo needs to be welcome inside when people are home, and to sleep inside at least until fully grown. She needs to be kept nice and warm, and would love a comfy bed with soft toys and blankets to nestle into. She has already shown her carers that she is excellent with toilet training and with consistent access to the outdoors, she rarely has accidents indoors.
Oreo will be a lovely family dog and with the right training, socialisation and enrichment, she will be suitable for families with children of any age. You will need good fencing with no small gaps and it must be at least 6ft tall. She can't go to any properties which have rural fencing (eg: mesh or wire).
Oreo’s siblings, Chai, Basil, Chilli, Jammy, Clover, Salt, and Pepper are also available for adoption and would love to meet their forever families.
Oreo’s adoption fee is $700 which includes her desexing when she is old enough. It also includes her first two vaccinations. She has been treated for fleas and worms, and is microchipped.
Oreo is in foster care in Stroud, NSW. Since she is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to the Lower Hunter region (Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland and Cessnock) plus Central Coast and Sydney. She’ll need to be returned to one of our approved vets for desexing when she's 5 to 6 months old.
