About Jey
Introducing Jey!
Jey is a Staffy x born 18th September 2023.
Jey was brought in to us as a stray, however when we contacted his microchipped owner they told us he was rehomed months ago to a friend of theirs. Neither owner came forward to collect him.
When Jey was first brought in to us, he was very timid but an incredibly sweet, playful and affectionate boy. He enjoyed his treats and all the love we could give him. As time went on Jey became more & more stressed to the point where he would spin/chase his tail all day every day. When this first started, we could distract him with long lasting treats and getting him out of his kennel for some decompression. Unfortunately he got to the stage where nothing could distract him.
Because of this behaviour we put a call out for a foster carer to take him on, to see if being in a home environment would help him settle.
Jey has been in foster care for almost 9 weeks now and is coming along in leaps and bounds. He’s a real cuddle bug, very gentle, is toilet trained (uses a dog door), sleeps inside at night and has recently started ’talking’. He loves going for walk, he was nervous and jumpy on his initial walks and we couldn’t take him far but now he walks around the block in our quiet neighbourhood and greets anyone he meets and happily says hello to any dogs on the way. He had his first ‘pack’ walk the other week, initially he was nervous but didn’t take too long to settle and he had a ball. Going outside of the neighbourhood to unfamiliar environments and where there’s a lot of traffic noise is still a little daunting but with patience he will adjust, slowly but surely. His confidence is growing daily. Jey and our older cat are getting on well.
While at the facility Jey tested quite well with other dogs, but was a bit scared if they were too boisterous and in his face. When he was around a slightly calmer dog, he became very playful & relaxed with them. We believe Jey would be suitable to live with other dogs, or be a spoilt "only child". If you have a friendly dog at home we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Jey showed no interest in cats & pocket pets.
He still has so much to learn about the world and would love to be in a home where he is included as a member of the family. Jey will thrive in an environment that guides him with positive direction and lots of love and attention.
Jey has shown no signs of separation anxiety or food aggression since being at the facility.
Jey's adoption fee is $475 and includes his desexing & lifetime registration. Jey is also regularly treated for flea and worms and is up to date with his vaccinations.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
