About Achilles
Your the trojan horse to my heart.
Meet Achilles - a timid yet noble pup, named after the legendary hero, seeking his own Iliad to unfold. Achilles may be shy at first, but deep within, there's a brave heart waiting to emerge with the right family to guide him.
This gentle boy loves his treats, and with every bite, his trust in you grows stronger. "Bring me treats, and I shall follow you through any challenge," Achilles seems to say with his soft gaze and wagging tail. His love for food is the key to his heart, making training both enjoyable and rewarding for this loyal companion.
On walks, Achilles is your steadfast warrior. He sticks close to your side, never pulling or straying, as if to say, "Where you go, I go. We march together." His calm and steady presence makes him a pleasure to walk, always staying beside you like a true companion-in-arms.
While he enjoys the company of other dogs, Achilles would thrive in a home with a happy-go-lucky female dog who can help him feel at ease. He's not one for chaotic homes, so no young kids for this hero-he needs older children (12+) who understand the importance of giving him time to settle in. "Patience is the mark of a true ally," Achilles would remind you, needing a family willing to help him adjust and build his confidence.
Achilles loves playing with water, especially when the hose comes out! If you're planning to water the garden, be prepared to either pop him away or enjoy watching him leap through the sprays with pure joy. The water is his playground, bounding and splashing through the stream like a playful pup.
While Achilles is still learning the rules of indoor life, with time and training, he would love nothing more than to be part of the family's everyday activities. He longs to be inside with his people, bonding and finding comfort in their presence. "Let me learn your ways, and I will be loyal till the end of my days," Achilles seems to whisper.
If you're looking for a loyal, water-loving, treat-craving, and sweet-tempered dog who will become your faithful companion with time, Achilles is ready to embark on this journey with you. Will you be his guide, his family, and his hero?

Adoption details
BARC adoption officers will work with you to help you find a dog or cat that matches your needs, they will discuss things like yard fencing, exercise requirements, other pets and family members, lifestyle factors, and breed experience. To help make this as quick and easy as possible, we ask you complete and adoption questionnaire (located on our website, or you can complete on when you visit). This helps ensure that we are introducing you to the most suitable animals we have available.
We encourage all members of the household to attend a meet and greet with a pet prior to adopting an animal. If the animal being adopted is a dog, we will also require existing dogs in the household to attend the shelter as part of the meet and greet.
Holds can not be placed on animals over the phone, and can only be applied at the discretion of management.
