About Wilma
Hi! I’m Wilma and I’m looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR Wilma
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/VUTnhzdDhkUoXyGb7
NOTE: You are unable to meet Wilma until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Wilma in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
• BREED KNOWLEDGE IS PREFERRED
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family
• A doggie playmate would be great, if not then lots of socialising with other dogs
• A cat may be ok with a slow introduction.
• I LOVE other dogs
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• Lots of love and attention
• Short regular walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a very sheltered life and can be a bit nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence
• I have come leaps and bounds since being at the shelter. I want to trust so bad and am a happy wiggly lady but am still very fearful & timid of touch.
• I require a very special home/family who have a lot of patience and can show me that the world is not such a scary place. Also a family that understands that I will always be shy/timid in new situations and are ok with this.
Things that I don’t want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• No children as I can be a bit shy in new situations and with new people and little ones may accidently scare me.
My best features:
• Wiggle butt
• Highly food motivated
• Gentle & placid
• Happy to hang out with other friendly dogs
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I will require full basic training as I've had no training experience yet
• I'm learning to walk on the lead at the shelter and am getting much better. I'm still a bit slow and fearful but with lots of practice in a secure harness I should soon look forward to a daily stroll around the neighbourhood.
• I love my food & toys so using them as a positive reward should make my training easier.
• I am extremely timid in new situations such as entering a building/home. I MUST have a family who'll allow me inside so I can see it isn't a scary place and to allow my confidence to grow.
