Meet Buster,

About: Buster is friendly & happy. He is a playful boy who can be excitable & boisterous so he is best suited to owners with experience in dog ownership. Buster is also very sweet, he loves his human friends, he is affectionate & very engaging.

Buster is also suitable for any household environment as he is easy-going & adaptable. He would make an excellent choice for people who are active as 'adventure' is Busters middle name - he loves to explore & go for walks.

Ideal Home: Buster is best suited to live in a house or on a farm/acreage, with a medium to large yard & high, secure fencing.

Access to inside the home on occasion would be ideal so that Buster can spend time with his new family & feel loved. But having said that, Buster is independent & would happily spend most of his time outdoors too.

Family: Buster is open to meet kids from 5 years & up. Reason for this is that he can be boisterous & may accidentally knock smaller kids over, in addition he also loves treats & although he is usually gentle when taking them, he may get a little over-excited about a delectable little morsel & forget his manners & snatch them from unprepared, small hands.

Buster is fine to live with people who work full-time hours.

Furry Friends: Buster is best to be the only dog in the home. Although he previously lived with another dog, his dog assessment indicated to us that he doesn't want to make dog friends & the sight of other dog stressed him out a bit. He was able to recover well, but he should be the only dog in the home.

As we cannot test, we are unsure how Buster would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of his new owners.

Training & Development: Buster would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience (with a focus on jumping).

Buster knows his name & he also knows how to 'sit'. He is food motivated, often taking treats gently, so having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea, but he may sometimes forget his manners & snatch food from your hand.

We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.

Play: Buster had mid-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise, play or walks from 20-30mins a day to keep him content. He is playful & loves to play with tennis balls, soft toys & rope toys.

Buster walks well on lead, but may pull occasionally, when he pulls he is quite strong, so loose leash training should be apart of his training. He is best walked with a martingale or on a harness for full control.

Staff Comments: Buster is a pretty straight forward dog. He is a sweet, older man that doesn't require much other than a kind owner & understanding home.
