Meet Bruno,
About: Bruno is a big (and we mean big!) friendly & happy boy. He can be aloof & alert - typical of his breed - and as such he is best suited with experienced owners - owners who have breed experience would be perfect. Bruno is smart, playful and curious about all that this world has on offer. He love of all things sometimes makes it difficult for Bruno to focus & pay attention, but when he does he's able to show you how trainable he is.
Bruno would be fine to live in any household environment as he is agreeable & would make a great dog for people who are active & outdoorsy as he is confident, social & outgoing.
Ideal Home: Bruno would be best suited to live in a house or a farm/acerage, with a large yard & high secure fencing.
Access to inside the home would be ideal so that this big teddy bear can spend time with his family on occasion.
Family: Bruno is open to meet kids from 10 years & up. Reason for this is due to his boisterous & excitable nature. He loves to play & may accidentally knock small children over. We can see that deep down there is a sweet, gentle centre to him as he is affectionate & engaging to all people that he meets.
Bruno is also fine to live with people who work full-time hours.
Furry Friends: Bruno is best to be the only dog in the home, his dog assessment went well but his excitable nature was a little to much for the other dog. He shows interest in making friends, and he is able to be walked past other dogs without an issue, but he would be best to be allowed to settle into his new home before making dog friends, or living with a dog from the start.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Bruno would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of his new owners.
Training & Development: Bruno would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience (with a focus on jumping) & group classes to teach him how to respectfully play with other dogs.
With further training Bruno would be the kind of dog that you could take to a dog friendly café or social event, you will just need to be mindful of his size. Bruno is a fairly quiet dog, we rarely hear him bark and he is still learning his name, but he knows how to 'sit' & 'shake' providing that he isn't too distracted about the world around him. Bruno is food motivated, often taking treats gently, so having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Bruno has high-range energy levels and would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 30-60mins per day to keep him happy & content. He likes to play with toys & isn't too fussy about the toys offered to him.
Bruno usually walks well on a lead, but if he pulls he is quite strong due to his size. So, loose leash training should be apart of his training. He is best walked with a martingale or on a harness for full control.
Staff Comments: Bruno is a lovely guy who is excited a bout life. Due to his size this can be a little full on, but he is very sweet & also toilet trained.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
The adoption fee for dogs covers C3 vaccination, health check, heartworm testing, desexing, micro-chipping, and registration.
The adoption fee for cats covers F3 vaccination, health check, desexing, micro-chipping, and registration.
