PROFILE AND NEEDS IN A HOME
Profile and needs in a home
Hi I’m Felix
I had a tough life to begin with, but I don’t let that get me down. I’ve been living with my awesome foster paw-rents for the past two months and have been living my best life ever since.
I am a curious little guy that is looking for a family that understands that I need a little time to take things in. While my curiosity is boundless there are some things that I am still learning about this big wide world of ours.
I love to play with my foster brother Hendricks, who looks after me really well. I need another well-adjusted small, and friendly doggo to be my Hendricks in a new home and to navigate my new environment.
Toys are my jam, there is nothing that gets me more excited than playing with toys, I love jumping in the toy box to find exciting new things to play with.
When I’m not climbing in the toy box I love to nap. If mum or dad are out and about, I climb into bed or spread out on the couch and happily nap away, although I do much prefer it when my foster brother is around as he makes me feel much safer. I also love to nap snuggled up next to my foster paw-rents when they are home and relaxing. I am a real snuggle bug so cuddling up next to them is another one of my favourite activities.
I’m a big boy now and have mastered the art of toileting outside, I have learnt very quickly to tell my paw-rents when I need to go outside as well as where the best place is to go.
I even hold on all through the night and wait until the morning before I go again. My new home will be a new environment of course so I will need an owner that will be patient, kind and set me up to succeed in this department.
I am still working on toileting while on walks, you see the outside world can still be a little bit overwhelming for me and there is so much of the outside world to take in and pay attention to that I prefer to wait until I get home to go where I feel comfortable. In time I will get there.
As exploring the world is new to me so I sometimes find this a little overwhelming and will need a family with patience to help me work through this. Good news is I am getting better and better every day and have made so much progress under the guidance of my awesome paw-rents. I have no doubt I will soon not even notice some of the big scary things that are out there.
I much prefer to go for walks in quiet suburbs that don’t have too much traffic and other noises.
I am much more confident when my foster brother is with me which is why it is so important that my new home have another dog.
I am still gaining my confidence around other dogs, as they make me a little shy. I prefer some distance at first so I can take it all in before we get up close and personal.
In the last couple of months, I have been introduced to a few dogs once I know I’m safe I can relax and even have a little romp around with them which makes me feel happy.
My new pawrents will need to be patient with me on walks as sometimes I don’t feel like going very far. They need to have confidence in recognising when I am scared and when I just need a little encouragement to keep going.
My new paw-rents will need to be the type of people that are home often throughout the week and on the weekend too. I would prefer it if they lived in a quiet area and have a backyard for me to play in. I don’t need big, long walks at this stage, but I do still like to get out and do some exploring each day.
I am unsure about younger kids at the moment, I haven’t spent
much time around them. I have spent some time with kids that are 12+ years old and have loved it but no time with younger ones.
I am a sweet loving guy that is looking for a patient family that can continue to help me work through some of my baggage that I have gained in my short life.
I would like access inside of the home at all times, permitted to sleep in the bedroom and have cuddle time on the couch please.
