About Artimus
❤️Artimus❤️
Aka- tripod or hop along
•2 year old desexed male •Staffordshire Terrier x Ridgeback.
•vaccinated
Artimus is looking for his forever home. He is super loving and sweet, he absolutely loves being loved.
If Arti had it his way, he’d be snoring away for hours right next to you on the couch (or on you—which he prefers). In Arti’s mind, he is a 25kg lap dog that can and will lay right on your chest without a worry.
Arti is good with kids and loves people, he really loves making new friends. In saying that, he may be best in a home with older kids that can respect his boundries.
Artimus was unfortunately abandoned by his owner earlier this year and is now looking for a second chance to find his forever people
Arti can have some separation anxiety, but it is currently managed with routine and company. so he may be better suited to an owner who works part time, or works from home.
As well as being a certified couch potato, Arti loves spending time with his brother Cerberus play-fighting, playing tug of war, or sun-baking on warm days. Arti also loves going for walks and exploring.
Arti can be extremely talkative and loves having conversations with you. As is the typical Staffy way, he can be very dramatic around dinner time. He also loves to remind you that his food should be prepared and served at 6.30pm sharp.
Some background on Arti from his people:
A little over a year ago, Arti was attacked by another dog. The incident resulted in Arti losing his front leg. It was all very sudden but Arti was amazing throughout it all.
He was up and walking the very next day,Having three legs has always looked so easy for Arti. He’s never let it get in the way of fun or life. He can still run and spin around and jump and hurdle stairs just as well as before.
His brakes do need some work though! Sometimes he’ll slide taking a corner too hard or misjudge the distance from a wall, but he’s always fine, I promise.
Arti is a bit of a scared-y cat. He’s scared of sudden sounds, especially when he’s been sleeping, or at night. He can also be nervous around dogs he doesn’t know because of the attacks. Sometimes he will bark or cry but he can be settled easily—especially when treats are involved.
With the support of Dog Training, Arti is making great progress, especially socialising with other dogs. With the right guidance, training and dedication from his new owner, Arti can hopefully overcome these challenges with time.
Arti has always been curious and friendly and just a beautiful soul.
Even after the attack, when Arti was living with his brother Cerberus; he was never hostile towards him. If anything, he looked to his brother for comfort and support, especially in the early days of his recovery.
Arti has known his brother his whole life, so it may be different for other dogs in a new home. Arti may be better suited to a home without other pets until he becomes more comfortable with interacting with other dogs.
Arti deserves a loving home and someone who won’t give up on him. He deserves someone who is dedicated to his care and is consistent with him. Artimus is so easy to love, and once he loves you he’ll love you forever.
