About Tyson
Tyson is the best of both worlds, a beautiful big boy on the outside but a sweet and playful puppy inside! At just 2.5 years old, this gorgeous brindle can be a rambunctious and energetic companion, and will suit a home looking for a young energetic dog.
Personal space? Yes, personally Tyson would prefer to be in your space. This sweet little snuggler loves affection and has a very lapdog attitude despite his size. He adores his humans and would prefer a home where there is WFH, or people he can accompany to the office where's he's a well-manered coworker. He is currently in care with a female hound, and would love a calm and confident canine in his forever home to model those good behaviours as he continues to mature. Even with another dog, Tyson can be a bit anxious when left alone (however with time and medication this is settling), but ideally he wants to be with his people as much as possible.
At 33kgs, Tyson can be a bit jumpy and mouthy in excitement (after all he is still just a young lad) and so a home without resident small animals, small humans, or elderly or frail people would be best as he continues to learn his manners, and also that he is not actually the tiny small dog he believes himself to be.
As a puppy, Tyson was believed to have suffered an injury to his back that made him unsuitable for racing. After coming into our care, extensive scans and tests with a veterinary specialist have shown he is healthy with no identifiable injuries. Instead, Tyson has been diagnosed with a novel condition known as paroxysmal gluten-sensitive dyskinesia (PGSD), which can cause some temporary pain and limb weakness after ingesting gluten. This is managed with a strictly gluten-free diet that he will need to remain on for life. He experiences no symptoms with this diet and it isn't expected to impact his quality of life.
A smart boy who picks up cues very quickly, Tyson has learned to go to his bed when asked, mastered stairs, and is growing in confidence with novel areas; even becoming a well-behaved cafe and pub dog. In a patient and loving home, this affectionate and sweet young lad will blossom - and he has so many years of the good life ahead of him!
No cats or small dogs
No full time workers unless some working from home or there is another dog
No children under twelve

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, some can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour.
As a result we look to rehome dogs into households where they are not left on their own for more than 4 hours per day on a regular basis, without either people or another dog for company. We are happy discuss strategies such as a dog walker or doggy day care. Going to work with you is also a great option
