Meet Miguel, an adorable 14-year-old Chihuahua cross with a whole lot of personality packed into his little 5.5 kg frame. Miguel is a sprightly fellow, and although he’s a bit hard of hearing and has some arthritis, he still moves around with a spring in his step and a perpetually wagging tail. He loves to follow his foster sister, explore the garden, and sniff around the yard, making him the perfect companion for a gentle, peaceful home with a cozy outdoor space to wander in.
Given Miguel a calm, predictable environment, will bring out his best and give him the life he so deserves. He can be a little nervous outside his comfort zone, so an experienced dog owner who understands how to reassure him would be a great match. He’s quite mobile but prefers gentle handling; his arthritis around the neck area means he needs to be picked up with extra care, ideally with a forearm tucked under his belly for support. He enjoys pottering around and would thrive
in a household that can give him a stable routine and lots of respect for his personal space.
Although Miguel isn’t a fan of being petted or picked up too much, he’s already beginning to bond with his foster family and appreciates someone just sitting nearby, giving him the security he needs. He’s adapting well and has even started sitting by his foster’s feet, looking up with quiet adoration.
Miguel loves his food and enjoys both raw and home-cooked meals. With his charmingly lopsided smile - thanks to a few missing teeth and a little tongue poke on the side - he’s sure to make you smile, too. His ideal home would be a quiet, relaxed space with someone patient and gentle who can give him a sense of security. Because of his sensitivities, he’d do best in an adult-only household, especially with someone who’s home often and who will share their backyard space
for his daily adventures.
This sweet, sensitive soul is looking for someone to show him that he’s finally home, safe, and loved. Are you the one to make his golden years shine?
Every dog deserves a second chance and with the right partnership, you will have a bond that is unmatched!
Please note: our dogs are not available for interstate adoption. We also do not adopt to people under the age of 25 years.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped,
wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals,
surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm
testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If
a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

We look forward to receiving your application.
