On Hold
About Bailey - 14 Month Old Maremma
• Bailey is a very affectionate lad and is always up for pats, cuddles and long conversations. If the lounge is big enough, he will be up there beside you.
• Bailey has had a rough start to life, but he has a friendly and affectionate nature. He is still only a pup at 14 months old.
• He will bark at strangers that come into his territory, but will calm down once he gets to know them.
• Bailey is good on the lead, though he can get a bit excited and pull when he can see home.
• Whilst walking he will stop and sit (when instructed) and watch without barking, people walking by with or without dogs, cyclists and cars.
• He is still learning to walk and can get distracted by the whole world of smells out there.
• He can get excited and bark when inside with the family, new noises will get him going till he gets used to them. He is better than a doorbell if someone is at the door.
• He will sleep overnight inside on his bed or in the hallway on the floor to make sure that all his humans are safe. He will let you know in the morning when he is ready to go out to the toilet.
• He will sit and take dinner when told to and is very gentle in taking treats.
• He is good with cats, he wants to be their friend, but as part of his nature he wants to round them up. He hasn’t learnt that cats aren’t submissive like sheep or chickens.
What Bailey needs in a new home:
• Baileys needs, ideally a rural property, or at the very minimum a very large fenced yard in an urban environment.
• If you are working from home, Bailey will happily be inside with you, but he will want attention during the day and may want to be in on the conference call.
• Bailey is still a pup at 14 months old and whether inside or outside he needs to be occupied with chew toys, chew ropes and bones from the butcher.
• Being a Maremma, he has a beautiful coat that seems to repel dirt, once any dirt dries it falls off. But this coat needs brushing every couple of days to remove loose hair, before it gathers up in the corners of your rooms.
• He is a big strong dog and will need an assertive person to walk as well as lots of praise when he is doing well
Bailey has a high shedding coat which needs regular brushing. He is an inside dog and needs to be allowed inside, at least when people are home, and to sleep inside.
Bailey is in foster care in Bolwarra (near Maitland), NSW. He is available for adoption interstate. His adoption fee is $700 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, and microchipped.
