Tatanka is a lovely calm gentle dog with the most beautiful kelpie smile. He has not been in foster care for very long so he is still really finding his feet. He is very timid and unsure of himself but craves affection and wants to be close to you, he is very happy just to rest at your feet. Ideally his new home will be a quiet household, any other dogs should not be too boisterous, though he does play fairly rough and tumble with my kelpie pup!

He is very quiet in the house and has only barked a couple of times at the window at passing strangers. He is good with cats and other dogs, very friendly. He is a slow timid eater, so should be fed separately for the initial few days or so. He sleeps happily near the other dogs overnight, on the blankets on the floor or in one of the crates. Toilet training is a work in progress, most likely he needs a doggy door, he does not ask to go out as yet, I provide regular toilet breaks during the day and he is learning to use the puppy pads overnight.

Tatanka loves to go for a leisurely stroll around the block but he has no self confidence as yet and can be a bit of a Velcro dog, pressing against your leg for reassurance. He is not overly excited about other dogs and tends to shy away from them. He can get scared if something frightens him. More experience walking on a lead and some obedience training should help build his confidence and make him a wonderful walking companion. He does not display the typical kelpie high prey drive, ignores wild birds and passing cats. He is learning to get in and out of the car on command; he should be tethered in the back or he will try and sit on your lap as you drive but other than that, he is very quiet and calm, a perfect passenger.

Tatanka could be the perfect addition to your family and will surely blossom into the most wonderful carefree companion even the love and affection he so richly deserves.
