About Wallace
Requirements:
Must meet all family members
Kids (any age)
Inside only or cat enclosure
Meet Wallace,
Wallace is a gentle, friendly & happy boy who is suitable for first time owners. Wallace is as cheerful as they come, often chirping to you to communicate. He is confident & curious and very very social - he loves to interact & engage with you, whilst splitting his time between playing with his favourite toys. He is always down for cuddles & pats, a roll on the floor or simply showering you with affection & love.
Wallace is suitable for any household environment as he is agreeable & very easy-going.
Wallace is open to meet kids of any age, too. Wallace adores human interaction and especially loves being patted but here's a red hot tip: if you scratch his cheeks or back he will not only purr but he'll even start to drool. He will simply melt into a cuddle with absolute euphoria all whilst making he famous biscuits.
Wallace doesn’t mind being picked up, carried & cuddled - he thinks that cuddles are the best & will roll over in your arms with content whilst being patted.
As we cannot test, we are unsure if Wallace would be fine to live with dogs or other cats. This would be up to the discretion of his new owners. If you intend on introducing Wallace to existing animals, we recommend doing so over a few days, with a slow introduction.
Wallace is best to be indoors only as the outside world poses many risks, such as him running away, getting lost, injured or worst – he loves being inside. Or if you must have him outside, we recommend that you have a cat enclosure so that he can be outside but still contained for his safety.
Wallace has mid-range energy in short bursts. He loves to play with toys - he especially loves ping pong balls and wand toys.
Wallace is not fussy with food; but he will need to be on a hypo-allergenic food diet (with potential wiggle room to wean him on to ordinary cat food in the near future).
Wallace always uses his litter tray, but he will need a deep or covered litter tray.
Staff Comments: Wallace is so sweet & affectionate. He has short bursts of playful energy, he loves to explore and loves to be patted more than anything in the world. He would be an excellent lap cat or bed buddy!
Medical notes
Recovered Cat Flu: Historically cat flu has had a negative reputation and can often deter people from adopting; but you wouldn’t actually be able to tell a recovered cat flu cat from a non-cat flu cat. The truth is that many cat flu cats will live happy, healthy, long lives in their new home. So, what is it? Cat flu is caused by a virus. Humans can’t catch it, but other cats can; but only if the cat is showing flu symptoms. Stressful situations like desexing, or a dramatic change in environment can lead to a recovered cat experiencing cat flu again, but this is usually short lived and rarely requires medical intervention. Most cats will recover on their own providing their vaccines are up to date.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
