About Bridgerton
***WE'RE ALWAYS ON THE LOOKOUT FOR FOSTER CARERS TO HELP US OUT SO IF YOU THINK YOU CAN PROVIDE A TEMPORARY HOME FOR ONE OF OUR BEAUTIFUL CATS PLEASE LET US KNOW. THE MORE CARERS WE HAVE AVAILABLE TO LEND A HAND THE MORE CATS WE CAN HELP REHOME***
A bit of a sad story this one.
Little Bridgerton was found on the Westgate bridge (hence the name Bridgerton) and rescued by a random good samaritan who was passing by. We think someone may have thrown him out of a car window as they we're driving but we'll never know for sure.
This kind person then reached out to our sister rescue where he was then dropped off. Bridgerton spent a few weeks with them, and they also tried him with a foster carer, but he never seemed to improve. His past trauma has left him afraid of people and terrified of human touch. If you try and pat him he will hiss and swat you.
Bridgerton does however love other cats so we have brought him to our rescue in the hope that running around with the other cats here will help him to adjust, relax and eventually begin to trust people again. So far we are just letting him do his own thing in the hope that he will eventually come around.
Little "Bridgey" as we've been calling him lately has been living with us at Urban Feline HQ for the past few weeks and has since begun to relax as he settles into his new foster home. He likes to hang out up high and watch the world go by but also has a favourite cat bed on the ground that we'll often find him in.
He is still quite cautious but we've given him plenty of time and love and he is now finally beginning to trust us. He does not run for the hills as you walk by anymore and we can actually give him a pat and scratch now. Hooray :) But only when he's feeling safe. He has a favourite perch that he like to sleep on and while he's up there he will let you pat him. He did also let us pat him at one stage when he was chilling out in his bed on the ground but that does not happen very often.
Otherwise he's a very happy little guy who's enjoying life. He is very active a night and you'll quite often see him chasing a ball around or playing with the other cats.
Bridgerton would make an ideal farm cat if you're just looking for a kitty to hang around the house, play with your other cats and catch the local pests. He would also make a great companion if you're looking for a friend for your current cat. He may not become super smoochy ( we're hopeful that he will ) but either way he certainly has a lot of love to give.
He will take a fair bit of time to settle into his new home, most likely weeks, but once he has settled in he will slowly begin to trust you and allow you to pat him once he feels safe. If you're happy to get the toys out and play or have another cat around his age that he can play with that will accelerate the process. In our experience, most scaredy cats will become more confident and affectionate as they age so we're fairly confident will really begin to flourish once he's found his new forever home.
Bridgerton is also very food motivated so this is a good way to bond. If you're cooking somthing yummy he will forget his fears and jump on the bench for a closer look. And if you've got treats he will eat them out of your hand and let you pat him while he's chewing away.
Bridgerton is approximately 7 months old and has been desexed, microchipped and vaccinated and is available for adoption right meow.
If you think you have the room in your heart and your home to provide this gorgeous fella with a great life please let us know and we’ll be more than happy to arrange a time for you to meet and fall in love with him.

A little about us:
Urban Feline Australia is a newly established cat rescue service, run by one passionate individual with the help of friends and volunteers, that is dedicated to keeping cats out of kill shelters and helping them find loving forever homes. We specialize in helping "surrenders" which are cats that have lived with humans previously but for one reason or another their owners are unfortunately no longer able to look after them. We take your pets into our amazing cat sanctuary where they're treated with love and affection until the right forever home is found for them.
Urban Feline Australia is not a large company with government resources, a large facility and a lot of staff. Our tiny rescue is a one man operation run from the safety of our own home. We do this for the love of animals and our only agenda is to save as many cats as we can. We rely heavily on cooperation from friends, other rescues, our amazing foster carers and the kindness of strangers to survive. Every cent we receive from donations and adoption fees is used to keep our rescue running and cover the cost of food, water, litter, equipment and vet bills for the animals in our care.
We are doing as much as we can right now but our dream is to one day be able to purchase a larger property or facility that would allow us to be able to save the lives of many more cats in need. Perhaps even open a cat cafe so that we can spread our message to a wider audience.
We have recently created a Go Fund Me towards this end so if you would like to donate towards our cause please follow the below link.
