Meet Peggy,
About: Peggy is a gentle, agreeable, & friendly girl who is best suited to experienced owners due to her breed. Peggy is a happy girl who is social, and although usually quiet Peggy likes to talk to you in her own unique way.
Peggy is suitable for any household environment & would be a great dog for active, outdoorsy people as she is outgoing & curious & eager to explore.
Ideal Home: Peggy is fine to live in a townhouse/duplex, standalone house or on a farm/acerage, with a medium to large yard & high secure fencing.
Access to inside the home would be ideal so that Peggy can be one with her new family.
Family: Peggy is open to meet kids of any age as she is affectionate likes to play & engage with her human friends.
Peggy is fine to live with people who work full-time.
Furry Friends: Peggy is open to meet dogs but may be selective of who she wants to spend her time with. During her dog assessment she was eager to meet, yet happy to do her own thing. Lots of play bows were exchanged between the two dogs but when things got a little rowdy Peggy got a little sensitive found comfort in her own company – she was able to recover quickly and was back to wanting to engage in play – so we feel Peggy would be able to co-exist & better suited with a less active dog, a dog that allows her to do her own thing.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Peggy would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Peggy would benefit from post-adoption training, such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience as well as group classes to ensure that the dog social skills that she already has remain sharp.
Peggy is still learning her name, but she knows how to ‘sit’ & is learning more as she continues to grow in our care. She’s a bit of a smarty pants and has shown us how eager she is to learn more.
Peggy is food motivated, so having treats on hand to reward her good behaviour would be ideal. Peggy usually takes treats gently, too, unless she is excited.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Peggy has high-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 20-60mins a day to keep her happy. A scent walk would even do the trick.
Peggy walks well on a lead, after her excitement has warn off. She is often on alert when walking & usually walks with her nose to ground sniffing up all of the delicious smells. She is fine to be walked on any apparatus.
Peggy likes all toys, but she especially likes food puzzle & enrichment toys. Anything that she can use her nose on!
Staff Comments: Peggy smiles when it’s time to go on a walk. She loves to go on walks & use her nose. She is known to give great cuddles, often wrapping her paws around your leg to show you her appreciation of her.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
