About Buddy, Lucky, Rufus & Rover
Buddy, Lucky, Rufus, and Rover are not dogs but a charming bonded group of adventurous male rats that are bursting with personality! These boys are not only active and inquisitive, but also very handsome with their sparkling white coats and bright ruby eyes. Though they look similar, you'll quickly grow to know each one as a unique individual.
Buddy, Lucky, Rufus, and Rover are brimming with energy and curiosity. They love exploring their environment, and you'll often find them happily running around, engaging in playful antics. Hammocks and climbing toys are their favourite playgrounds. They use their active minds to navigate through intricate climbing paths and solve any puzzle toy you give them.
Though they are still on their journey to full confidence, these four will certainly come to trust you with patience and gentle care. These boys are very friendly but would prefer a home with respectful older children or no children at all as they aren't fond of cuddles. If you have cat or dog family members, please put thought into how you will keep them safely away from the cage.
If you're looking to bring a pre-bonded group of rats into your home and think that you can keep them happy and entertained for the rest of their lives (~1 year), please send us an enquiry and we'll get back to you as soon as possible and get these lovely boys into their forever home.
Buddy, Lucky, Rufus, and Rover will be treated with a parasite preventative prior to adoption. As they have come out of a research facility, they are free of the same respiratory issues that other rats and mice have -- they must be kept isolated from them to maintain this health benefit.
Medical notes
No known pre-existing conditions. Must be kept isolated from other mice and rats.
Adoption details
All of our animals are seeking indoor only homes. We do not adopt out any animal to live alone (excluding entire male mice). If you do not have one or more compatible animals of the same species, you must adopt a bonded pair or group.
Once you apply to adopt, we'll talk with you about proper care of the animals you're looking to adopt, discuss any concerns you or we might have, and tell you more about our available animals. Using the application form on our website will ensure that you don't leave anything out.
Otherwise, please include as much detail as possible about your situation, other animals, experience with the species you're looking to adopt, and intended housing/diet when you apply. If there's a particular vet clinic you intend to use, please tell us the name (otherwise we can help you locate one that is knowledgable in small animals).
As part of the adoption process we require photos of a complete, suitable set up. We suggest contacting us prior to buying any cages or items for your new family members as many sold for small animals are not appropriate. We've also outlined our housing expectations on our social media, but don't be intimidated! We are here to help, not judge.
At the time of adoption, you'll be asked to pay an adoption fee and sign an adoption form. You'll receive an adoption packet including a detailed care guide for the species you've adopted, an adoption certificate, and any relevant veterinary records (proof of vaccination and sterilisation, microchip details, etc).
