About Scotty Dean
All About Me and My Unique Personality:
Scotty Dean is a special boy who has all the makings of becoming your perfect lifelong companion. He is loyal, loving and always ready for a snuggle or play. For Scotty Dean life is all about cuddles, treats and making people smile.
Scotty Dean came into care with very limited training but has picked up his basics extremely quickly. He has a big heart and just wants to please his people. Along with being one smart cookie and treat motivated, this will ensure that any ongoing training will be a breeze.
Scotty Dean has a fantastic sit, knowns down, off, is crate trained and sleeps quietly through the night. He can use a doggy door and is nearly there with his toilet training. He has also shown that he will have excellent recall. He enjoys the beach playing in the water and digging in the sand as well as his toys, a game of fetch and tug of war.
Scotty Dean is your perfect work from home buddy as he is happy to lay down next to you snoozing or munching on something tasty while you work. He is also just as happy to be left at home alone to sunbake while you are out.
This absolute legend of a pup is a superstar when he is out and about. He loves adventures and is great in the car. He is extremely calm and walks like a pro on a short leash with no pulling, checking in regularly with his person. He will stop and sit automatically when you stop to cross a road or have a chat. He is extremely dog friendly and calmly walks past other dogs and says hello politely. He will also take pats all day long from anyone who is happy to oblige.
Scotty Dean also enjoys being part of the hip crowd and is comfortable in a cafe. He will happily and calmly lay down and munch on a pigs ear and watch the world go by while you have your coffee and a chat.
My Ideal Home:
Since coming into care, Scotty Dean has made huge strides in his training. He is an extremely adaptable boy who absolutely loves everyone and every dog he meets.
Scotty Dean would love to live with a doggy pal, but could happily be an only dog if his family included him in their adventures and he was a major part of the family, as he is all about his people.
Scotty Dean is also going to be a large boy, so his ideal home will be with a family who will commit to continuing socialisation, training, exercise, play and walks to ensure that he keeps up his beautiful manners. He will need to be welcomed into the family home and share in your adventures. Scotty Dean will also need to be an inside/outside dog with a bed inside at night.
What is Known About My Background:
Scotty Dean was rescued from an animal shelter as a stray.
How Do I Interact with Kids, Dogs, Cats and Other Pets:
Scotty Dean is currently living with two kids that are 8 and 9 and absolutely adores children of any age. He is always interested in what they are doing and will follow them everywhere. As he is still learning his manners and not to jump up, he would be better suited to a family with dog savvy kids over 8.
Scotty Dean loves all dogs! They can be big, small, old or young. He is currently living with three small senior dogs and enjoys hanging out with them.
Scotty Dean is extremely submissive towards other dogs. When he meets a dog for the first time, he is very polite and calm when saying hello. If a dog barks at him or is too over excited, Scotty Dean will return to his person for reassurance. He also enjoys playing with other dogs and will let the other dog dictate the play style.
Scotty Dean has not been cat tested but did meet a cat at Petbarn. He took no notice of the cat and when it took a swipe at him he just looked at his human confused. Scotty Dean has also met cats out on walks and has come nose to nose with one but he did not react, he just sniffed. We believe that he will be able to live with a feline friend following a proper introduction.
