About Reina
Requirements:
Experienced owners
Must meet all family members
Kids (any age)
Best as only dog - for now
Meet Reina,
About: Reina is a gentle, independent girl who is best suited to experienced owners. Reina can be a little anxious at times, so an experienced owner would be ideal. Overall, the general consensus for Reina is that she quite mellow, and fairly chill.
But don’t let this deter you, Reina is also friendly, curious, and quite a lovely little girl who is eager to learn more about this crazy world we live in.
Reina is best suited to a calm & quiet home as she is sensitive to noise.
Ideal Home: Reina is fine to live in a townhouse/duplex, standalone house or on a farm/acreage, with a medium to large yard & high secure fencing.
Access to inside the home would be ideal so that Reina can spend time with her new family & soak up all their love & adoration.
Family: Reina is also open to meet kids of any age as she likes to play & engage with her human friends.
Reina is fine to live with people who work full-time.
Furry Friends: Reina is best to be the only dog in the home. During her dog assessment it became clear very quickly that she has not had much socialisation in her previous home. Nothing she did was bad in the assessment, but her behaviour may be off-putting to other dogs. We will be working on her socialisation whilst she is with us.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Reina would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Reina would also benefit from post-adoption training, such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience as well as group classes to assist with her socialisation with other dogs.
Reina is still learning her name, but she knows how to ‘sit’ & is learning more as she continues to grow in our care.
Reina is food motivated, so having treats on hand to mark good behaviour would be ideal. Reina always takes treats gently, too.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Reina has mid-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 20-30mins a day to keep her in tip top shape.
Reina walks well on a lead, only with some pulling on occasion. She is fine to be walked on a lead & collar or with a martingale.
Reina doesn’t have any favourite toys (yet) she prefer personal play & human interaction.
Staff Comments: Reina does get slightly anxious walking, only when the other dogs are barking but other than that she is a pretty chill dog whose happy to go with the flow.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
The adoption fee for dogs covers C3 vaccination, health check, heartworm testing, desexing, micro-chipping, and registration.
