About Pancake
Requirements:
Experienced owners
Must meet all family members
Kids (6yrs+)
Best as only dog - for now (potential to be social)
Meet Pancake,
About: Pancake is best suited to experienced owners as she is a shy & timid dog who has some anxious tendencies. But don’t let his reserved nature sway your decision, because in addition Pancake is also a very happy girl, she is excited to make friends, she is playful too & is also very affectionate. She is just a smidge nervous in new environments & around new people.
Pancake is best suited to a calm & quiet home as she is sensitive to loud noises & chaotic movements. Pancake herself is a generally quiet dog, she rarely makes noise.
Ideal Home: Pancake is fine to live in a townhouse, house or on a farm/acreage, with a medium sized yard & high secure fencing.
Access to inside the home is a must of sweet Pancake that she he can feel like part of a family & feel safe in her new home.
Family: Pancake is open to meet kids from 6 years & up, reason for this is again due to her timidity.
Pancake is fine to live with people who work full-time.
Furry Friends: Pancake is best to be the only dog for now. During her dog assessment who was unsure the entire time. She did offer a few play bows, but we feel that she maybe didn't have a lot of exposure to other dogs or socialisation in her previous home, and the interaction overwhelmed her a little. With saying that, she did incredibly well & we can see her potential in becoming social, we just need to work with her a little more to bring her out of her shell.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Pancake would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Pancake would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience & group classes to assist her with her social skills & nervousness in new environments.
Pancake is still learning her name, but she knows how to ‘sit’.
Pancake is food motivated, so having treats on hand would be a great tool to have during training sessions. Pancake may jump up to say hello once she feels a little more confident.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Pancake has mid-range energy levels, and she would benefit from exercise, walking or playtime from 20-30mins per day. Pancakes loves to play with toys, although she doesn’t have a favourite toy, she will happily entertain herself with anything provided to her.
Pancake walks ok on a lead, she does need some leash training as she doesn’t really walk in a straight line. She rarely pulls, so she is fine to be walked with a collar & lead.
Staff Comments: Pancake is a very sweet girl; she is slightly timid at first but loves attention & play time. She just needs some TLC & a patient & understanding owner.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
The adoption fee for dogs covers C3 vaccination, health check, heartworm testing, desexing, micro-chipping, and registration.
