About Chipotle
Requirements:
Must meet all family members
Kids (any age)
Open to meet dogs - dog selective
Meet Chipotle,
About: Chipotle is friendly & happy and is suitable for first time owners. He is an excitable little guy, who is playful & social. Chipotle is quite affectionate; he loves to engage with his handlers.
Chipotle is suitable for any household environment & would be a great choice for people who lead active lifestyles, as he loves to explore the world around him, and he would be keen for any adventure that you’re ready to take him on!
Ideal Home: Chipotle is fine to live in any property type/dwelling, yard size is of no concern either, just as long as the fencing is secure.
Free access to inside the home would be great for Chipotle, however he is the type of dog that could live in the home full time.
Family: Chipotle is open to meet kids of any age, although he can be a little boisterous when he plays. Chipotle is also suitable to live with people that work part-time hours.
Furry Friends: Chipotle is open to meet dogs but may be dog selective of who he chooses to spend his time with. Chipotle had loose body language & was enjoying his dog assessment, but the other dog got a little too excited which Chipotle did not appreciate. He was happy to continue once the other dog had settled down. From what we saw, Chipotle is happy to interact, but he prefers respectful, calm dogs over energetic, playful & confident dogs.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Chipotle would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of his new owners.
Training & Development: Chipotle would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience & group classes to cater to his dog social skills & his tolerance of other dogs.
With additional training, Chipotle could be the type of dog that you could take to a dog friendly café or social setting. However, Chipotle may bark when he is excited.
Chipotle is still learning his name, but he does know how to ‘sit’. He is still learning other commands, but he does have a short attention span. Chipotle is semi food motivated, often taking treats gently, so having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea however you may need a sample of treats to figure out which ones he likes as he can be a bit picky. We do know that he doesn’t like biscuit bones.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Chipotle has mid-range energy levels and would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 20-60mins per day to keep him happy & content.
Chipotle walks well on lead; he is best walked with a collar & lead or on a harness.
Chipotle seems to like rubber chew toys; however, he really likes human interaction & personal play.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
