About Lily - 6 Year Old Maltese (trial)
Meet Lily, 6 year old Maltese.. A loving, 5kg, little bundle of fluff. She came to Dog Rescue from a residence of 10 little dogs who needed a new home. Lily, her pups and the others have all been separated, so after 5 years of living with other dogs, she now feels a little lonely as an only dog. If you have a friendly furry companion, Lily would love to come and complete your family.
Some training has been commenced to help her adapt to her new life with you. She is house trained, but in an emergency she will use a puppy pad. She is a quick learner and now understands some basic commands: sit, stay, in your bed, and has learnt her new name for recall. Using the doggy door is a sinch too. Treats have been a great help in training.
Improving reactivity on walks is still ongoing and continued training will be needed in her new home. Since the outside world is unfamiliar, she would be happiest in a lovely back yard with a doggy companion where she can sniff, do zoomies, and lie in a sunny spot. She doesn't have any experience with toys or playing fetch, so she is happy living a quiet life with creature comforts; good food, a warm bed and lots of love and cuddles.
She has been for car rides, and though still feels a little fearful, she does settle and is happy to go anywhere with you, as long as shè feels safe. She loves people and will shower them with licks but she has not had much experience meeting unfamiliar dogs, children, cats, or other animals. We would recommend a home with kids over 10.
If you and your dog(s) would like to complete your family, seriously consider Lily who will love you to bits and bring lots of joy into your life.
Lily is microchipped, vaccinated, desexed and treated for fleas and worms. Her adoption fee is $600. She is currently in foster care in Newcastle, and is available for adoption to NSW and ACT.
