About Tenacious D
**Before applying, please remember that adopting a puppy into your home is a huge commitment, and very demanding of your time. Puppies require daily exercise, positive and varied socialisation, grooming, training and playtime. When applying, please consider your work hours, holidays, and how busy your personal life is. Puppies will need someone who is home for most of the day with regular focused input, especially in those first six months after adoption **
NAME: Tenacious D (TD)
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to SAFE Esperance as an owner surrender.
BREED: Kelpie x
Breed Traits: Kelpies are high energy and highly intelligent being a working breed, so may need to be found a 'job' to make them feel fulfilled. They get bored easily if their brains are not worked, so training is a must. They are very social with adults and children and social with other dogs. They are very loyal but if the instinct is strong they may try to herd your children.
**************************************************************************
ASSETS: Easy-going, affectionate, eager to please, friendly, outgoing, obedient, active, playful and very sweet. She’s a gorgeous girl who loves to be loved!
FAVOURITE THINGS: TD loves to play tug and chase around the garden with her brother and loves to play with soft toys, treat balls and squeaky balls. She is a typical puppy with bursts of energy where she plays for a while then settles down with her person for a snooze before waking up and doing it all over again! TD has a run around the foster property morning and evening and absolutely loves all the fun.
ENDEARING FEATURES: TD is a very outgoing girl who loves everyone she meets.
OTHER ANIMALS: Being a young puppy, she gets on well with other friendly dogs after gentle, supervised introductions. She could live with a dog-savvy, confident cat that will stand its ground, again after gentle introduction. She also loves watching the pet bird in her foster home.
GENERAL INFO: TD will need training for pretty much everything being so young. She is housetrained but expect accidents while she’s settling into her new home and routine! She rarely barks, is very curious and eager to learn. She’ll benefit greatly from puppy school and ongoing classes into adulthood where she can mix with other dogs and grow confidence, this is a commitment we will expect from her new owner. We expect these pups to be medium sized but as we don’t know who dad is, there are no guarantees.
ESSENTIALS for TD:
** an active, calm, loving home where someone is there for most of the day, essential in the first six months after adoption
** a home where she is treated as part of the family and is allowed to be inside or out as she needs and to sleep inside at night
** a decent sized, well fenced garden where she can run, play, sniff and explore in safety
** attendance at puppy school and continued training into adulthood for her to learn and grow confidence – essential
** continued positive, gentle exposure and socialisation
TD will have bursts of energy while a pup and we envisage will be medium to high energy at times as an adult dog.
TD could live with dog-savvy gentle children over 8 years of age, depending on experience, who will play and interact with her but know when to give her space.
If TD sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we’ll be in touch soon.
