About Mystique
**Before applying, please remember that adopting a puppy into your home is a huge commitment, and very demanding of your time. Puppies require daily exercise, positive and varied socialisation, grooming, training and playtime. When applying, please consider your work hours, holidays, and how busy your personal life is. Puppies will need someone who is home for most of the day with regular focused input, especially in those first six months after adoption **
NAME: Mystique
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to SAFE Esperance?
BREED: Kelpie x
Breed Traits: Kelpies are high energy and highly intelligent being a working breed, so may need to be found a 'job' to make them feel fulfilled. They get bored easily if their brains are not worked, so training is a must. They are very social with adults and children and social with other dogs. They are very loyal but if the instinct is strong they may try to herd your children.
**************************************************************************
ASSETS: A little shy initially, affectionate, eager to please, friendly, outgoing, confident, active, playful and very sweet. She’s a gorgeous girl who loves to be loved!
FAVOURITE THINGS: Mystique loves to play tug and chase around the garden with her siblings. She also loves to play with soft toys that she can chew. She is a typical puppy with bursts of energy where she plays for a while then settles down with her person for a snooze before waking up and doing it all over again!
ENDEARING FEATURES: Mystique is extremely sweet and has a well-balanced nature. She’s intelligent and strong willed, and also has a superhero mask!
OTHER ANIMALS: Being a young puppy, she gets on well with other friendly dogs after gentle, supervised introductions. She could live with a dog-savvy, confident cat that will stand its ground, again after gentle introduction.
GENERAL INFO: Mystique will need training for pretty much everything being so young. Housetraining is there now that she is in a routine but expect accidents while she’s settling into her new home and routine! She is quite vocal, loves her food and will growl if any of the other dogs try to get near her favourite marrow bone! She is also happy to do her own thing at times and is crate trained so will take herself off there for a snooze. She’s confident in using the doggy door too. She’ll benefit greatly from puppy school and ongoing classes into adulthood where she can mix with other dogs, and training is a commitment we will expect from her new owner. We expect these pups to be medium sized but as we don’t know who dad is, there is no guarantee.
ESSENTIALS for Mystique:
** an active, calm, loving home where someone is there for most of the day, essential in the first six months after adoption
** a home where she is treated as part of the family and is allowed to be inside or out as she needs and to sleep inside at night
** a decent sized, well fenced garden where she can run, play, sniff and explore in safety.
She does like to climb so high fences are a must
** attendance at puppy school and continued training into adulthood for her to learn and grow confidence – essential
** continued positive, gentle exposure and socialisation
Mystique will have bursts of energy while a pup and we envisage will be medium to high energy at times as an adult dog.
Mystique could live with dog-savvy gentle children over 8 years of age, depending on experience, who will play and interact with her but know when to give her space.
If Mystique sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we’ll be in touch soon.
