Kids (5yrs+)
Not suitable to live with dogs
Open to meet cats
Inside only
Meet Rune,
Rune is a gentle, slightly nervous girl who is suitable for first time owners or those with experience. Rune is agreeable & friendly and tries her best to be social, and to an extent she is, but she needs a little time to warm up to her surrounds before having the confidence to explore freely. Once settled she's eager to explore, make friends & will happily be your little shadow.
Rune is best suited to a calm & quiet home due to her timidity. She dislikes loud noises & prefers a quieter environment.
Rune is open to meet kids from 5 years & up – reason for this is due to her timidity in new environments. Rune is a happy girl, who is happy to interact but may need some time to adjust to her new environment. She can be chatty & will happily chat to you about her day.
Rune loves human interaction and especially loves being patted. She adores head/chin & butt scratches!
Rune doesn’t mind being picked up, carried & cuddled but she may startle easily, and if this happens, she will want to be on the ground where she feels safe.
Unfortunately, Rune would not be suitable to live with dogs.
Rune previously lived with cats, so we think that she would be fine to be introduced to new cats in the home as long as the introduction is gradual & controlled to minimise stress to Rune & the existing cats. She actually loves being around other cats.
Rune is best to be indoors only for the simple fact that she hated being in the cat park – it caused her great distress to be outside. She loves being inside, where she feels safe.
Rune has low energy & doesn’t really play with toys. She prefers human interaction & exploring.
Rune is not fussy with food; she loves any food offered to her.
Rune is also tidy, as she always uses her litter tray.
Staff Comments: Rune is very affectionate once she settles into her new home. She will happily go around the cattery chatting other cats but then will come back to you to smooch against your leg before wandering off to explore again. She will need some time to settle into her new home before you get to see her be content (and herself) so as long as you are patient with her you'll get to see her thrive into the affectionate, chatty cat who will happily follow you from room to room, like we get to see every day.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
