Meet James!

James, or as his foster mum lovingly calls him, Jimmy or Slim Jim, is a 1-year-old Cavoodle weighing 10kg, with a heart full of love and a gentle soul, just waiting for the right family to help him blossom. This sweet boy had a bit of a rough start in life, missing out on some key socialisation, so he needs a patient and understanding human to guide him through the big, wide world and show him that it's not so scary after all.

At first, James is a shy guy, but once he gets to know you, he’s all about love and affection. He’s a total cuddle bug who adores human company—he’ll happily curl up on your lap or snuggle with you in bed. In fact, James prefers to be indoors with his people, where he feels safe and loved.

James would thrive in a home with another friendly dog to show him the ropes and help him feel secure. He draws a lot of confidence from his canine friends, so having a buddy is essential. While he hasn't met any cats or pocket pets yet, he is open to the idea—as long as they’re willing to give him a chance.

Loud noises and young children can be a bit too much for him, so a calm, quiet home would suit him perfectly. James’s ideal match will be someone who works from home at least part-time and has the patience to guide him gently as he continues to learn. He’s come a long way in a short time, already mastering basic commands like “sit” and toilet training using a dog door. He’s also managing walks in quieter areas, slowly building confidence and exploring the world at his own pace. James enjoys car trips and long-lasting chew treats and is still learning about toys, but with a bit of encouragement, he's starting to find his playful side and even catches the odd bout of zoomies!

What James Needs:
- A Friendly Dog Companion: James would thrive in a home with another dog to help boost his confidence and show him the ropes.
- Quiet, Calm Environment: No young kids, please—James finds loud noises and children overwhelming.
- Someone Patient and Kind: He needs a human who works from home at least part-time and can give him the attention and reassurance he craves.
- Regular Grooming: As a Cavoodle, James will need grooming every 6-8 weeks to keep his coat healthy and tangle-free.

James is in foster care in Newcastle, NSW, and is not available for adoption interstate. His adoption fee is $1000 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, and microchipped.
