NAME: Sweetie (or Suzi as she’s now known!) (9 kilos)

BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance from the pound

BREED: Terrier x
BREED TRAITS: terriers come in all shapes and sizes and were bred for different reasons but many were for farm work or ratting. Today they are mainly companions. Terriers are generally high energy, very bright and quick to learn but can be stubborn. They have strong personalities and a sense of fun and want to be included in everything you do. Don't take on a terrier unless you really do want a companion.

ASSETS: Easy going, affectionate, devoted, eager to please, friendly, quiet, and very sweet. She’s a very lovable girl and is a delight to have around.

FAVOURITE THINGS: Suzi loves to get out and about for walks and car rides and plays well with the other dogs in her foster home. She loves to be by your side wherever you are and will follow you around the house. She’s very affectionate and will happily snuggle up with you for a snooze.

ENDEARING FEATURES: She’s a very gentle soul who’s very loving and caring. She also adores being brushed.

OTHER ANIMALS: Suzi loves the company of other friendly dogs so could live with one in her new home. She could also live with a dog-savvy cat, after gentle, supervised introductions. She is living on a property with contained chickens and takes no notice of them.

GENERAL INFO: Suzi needs a little lead training as she tugs on the lead at the moment. She is housetrained and will bark if someone is at the door. She has a fairly low energy level and knows a few commands but would benefit from some ongoing training. She adores her person and loves a lap in the evening for a cuddle and snuggle. She currently sleeps in her foster carers bedroom as she loves to be close.

ESSENTIALS for Suzi:

** A loving home with someone who can be with her for a good part of the day or can take her with them when they go out. Not for a full-time worker.

** She will need daily exercise, playtime and mental activity. A home that is willing to involve her in daily activities is essential for her as she loves to be right where you are.

** Suzi needs a fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things to sniff and explore.

** Suzi needs to be allowed inside the home when you are there and to sleep inside at night.

**Suzi would benefit from attending training – she has missed out on foundation work and with her smart brain would love to please.

Suzi could live with dog-savvy, gentle children over 10 who will be able to read her signals and engage with her on a daily basis. She would be happy to be an only dog in her new home, but if so, she would love to be able to meet and play with other friendly dogs on a regular basis.
