About Dot
Hi, my name is Dot, and I am a Miniature Dachshund, and I am 5 years and 2 months old
I came into care a few months ago from a breeder who wasn't the greatest and the rescue has worked really hard to show me that life is great, and people are lovely.
I came into care with Pyometra (this is a serious and potentially life-threatening infection of the uterus that causes it to fill with bacteria and pus - sorry about that information) but the rescue rushed me to the vets and sorted all of that out ((I was desexed) - so I am now happy and healthy and will have no further issues.
When I came into care I was very scared and nervous but knew that people wanted to love me and I was happy to get cuddles and love from them
I did have to go to another carer when my foster mum was going away - my new foster was ready for a quiet, shy nervous girl but I came in with some confidence and a big tail wag.
My new foster mum works from home and she has two kids (10 and 5 one boy and one girl) and they hang out with me while they read, watch tv or play on their play station.
My foster mum also has a couple of dogs and I love to hang out with them, interact with them, and just be a dog. I currently have options of sleeping in the lounge room with another dog or I can sleep on the bed happily - Not going to lie if I really have an option of where I want to sleep the bed with you will always win.
My new foster mum thinks that because she has a couple of other small breeds who are friendly and fun that has also brought that out in me - and I love to just have a run around outside with the other dogs - I think as I spend more time with other dogs I will learn how to play etc.
I also love thru the day snoozing in comfy spots - dog beds, couches, out on the back deck sunbaking etc etc.
If you are home being a work from home, stay home, retired, shift worker etc I will happily keep you company - following you around and supervising with my long nose when you do anything!
I also love a good a good lap to snuggle on and love to stare into your eyes while you pat me. Yes that does mean I will sit on you and stare at you!
I can be nervous when meeting new people so I do need a few minutes just to settle and get used them, but the rescue thinks as time goes by in my forever home that will lessen as I will be confident and settled.
I am toilet trained
I currently weigh 5.1kg
I am currently living with two cats, my foster mum says i don't really pay any attention to them, unless they suddenly just pop up in front of me startling me and then i give a little bark.
I am currently learning how to walk on a lead, I am still building up for long distance (cause remember my legs are little) but would happily take a slow stroll around the neighborhood
I absolutely love food so if your foodie we could bond!

Please note - They will not leave for their new homes until they are 12 weeks of age and have been desexed, micro-chipped and vaccinated up to date.

Complete the following adoption enquiry link

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption - proof of your dogs up-to-date vaccination is required before any meet and greet is arranged.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 10 day trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $250) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.
Please also note while this can be a very exciting time for everyone, it can also be an overwhelming time for dogs and we ask that you do try and allow your new family member to settle in their new home and adjust
INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption
AFTER THE TRIAL PERIOD
After the 10 day trial period is completed Paw Prints Canine will send out all relevant paperwork for your new furbaby via email including the transfer of microchip form.
