About Atticus SUA012961
Introducing Atticus, an incredibly handsome gentleman with a heart as captivating as his exterior. This inquisitive guy is looking for a new family who can appreciate his unique blend of independence and quiet companionship. Atticus is a quiet, curious guy who loves exploring his surroundings and takes his time to warm up to new people. Once he gets comfortable, Atticus shows his affection through gentle headbutts and his presence.
While Atticus might not be a lap lover, he enjoys being near his humans, whether lounging on the couch or keeping you company at bedtime. His gentle nature makes him an ideal companion for someone who prefers a calm and serene environment. Atticus is quite self-sufficient and content to entertain himself, yet he always appreciates the quiet comfort of being in your company.
Due to his sensitive nature, Atticus can suffer from anxiety and would much rather stay indoors, as the outdoors can make him nervous. He’s on a special urinary diet to keep him healthy and will need to stay on this diet for the rest of his life, but he doesn't let this slow him down.
Atticus would flourish in a peaceful home, where he can explore at his own pace and snuggle up next to you for some quiet bonding. If you're looking for a gentle, inquisitive, and incredibly handsome companion, Atticus is ready to bring his quiet charm into your life.
Medical notes
Perineal urethrostomy
Atticus was surrendered to us with a history of repeated urinary inflammation and blockage, where the urine cannot leave the bladder due to an obstruction in the urethra. This had caused scarring and narrowing in his urethra and so a surgery called a perineal urethrostomy was performed. In this surgery, the last narrow portion of the urethra (the penile urethra) is removed. This surgery almost entirely eliminates the chance of future obstruction, but does not alter the cat's predisposition to cystitis, or inflammation of the bladder, and so he will need to be fed a urinary diet specifically
formulated to avoid this.
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
