About Coraline
💖 Meet Coraline 💖
HOUSEHOLD- As a cute as a button is our little Coraline! This pocket rocket will require a home that can keep up with her active lifestyle and give her both the physical and mental stimulation her breed requires. She would be best suited to a home that has had previous breed experience and is ready for her social, vocal cues. Due to her jumpiness when excited and her natural herding instincts a mature household with any children being 10yrs and over would be best. She appears to cope well inside and out as long as she has a semi shady space to lay in the yard when it all gets too hot.
ON-GOING TRAINING- Here in the facility Coraline is easily distracted and takes awhile to focus on what is asked of her. She can already ‘Sit’ on command and has displayed a natural sit position at the side of the road without being asked. She will require on-going training for basic obedience, dog socialisation and lead manners but loves to be with her handlers and should be more than willing to work with you if it means she can spend more time together!
ON LEAD- Coraline is a young pup who is still learning to walk well on a lead. She LOVES smells and following her nose and will happily wander slowly following any smell she can. She will pull toward a scent or a dog she wishes to meet but is learning not too. If the weather is too hot and she has had enough she can be abit stubborn so middle of the day exercise is definitely not an option for this girl.
PLAY/TOYS- In the facility Coraline has not shown an excessive interest in any toys in particular. She would much rather spend time sniffing or hanging out with her handlers and may only show her true playstyle when she is comfortable in her new home.
OTHER DOGS- Coraline is still a young dog who is learning her social cues. She will need an owner who is understanding of this and allows her time to learn her manners in a positive way.
She can become vocal from a distance if she wishes to meet another dog but staff are working on this and she will just need more time to learn the appropriate way to approach a canine friend. She could live with a canine companion but we would need to do a meet and greet here at the facility first and she does not appear ready for a group dog setting such as a dog park or beach so, if you were hoping to visit these places, we would recommend postponing your trip till around 3mths post adoption until she has had time to settle in and feel comfortable with her recall commands and her bond with her new family.
CATS/OTHER ANIMALS- Unfortunately, Caroline is not suitable for rehoming with cats. She finds them quite scary and Coraline appears more than willing to defend her space which is stressful for both herself and the cat.
CARE/GROOMING- Coralines lovely double coat will require daily maintenance. She will shed during the changes of season and will require a good brush during these times to prevent a build up of the old coat. A daily brush, monthly bath and monthly nail trim will keep her looking fine and thus far other than being abit wriggly she does not hate all the attention grooming brings her.
EXERCISE- Coraline has a high-energy requirement and will need 1-2 walks/runs and a game in the backyard daily. She will be sure to let you know when she is getting bored, frustrated or, if it is time to go out because she loves to use her voice to let you know what she wants or what is wrong.
NUTRITION- Coraline is currently being fed twice a day on a puppy food diet. She has shown no sensitivities towards the feeds we have offered but can be abit selective with the more unusual food treats. She appears to gain weight quite easily and will need to be weighed regularly to make sure she is not becoming overweight. Coraline would be a great candidate for food puzzles, licki mats, kong wobblers etc where she can use her mind to help get her meal!
BREED- Blue Cattle X DOB 6/10/2023
Coraline is located at our Charmhaven Shelter. Her $550 adoption fee covers microchipping, desexing, lifetime registration, current vaccination, flea and worming treatments.
If you have not had breed experience with a Cattledog before, please take the time to do some research before placing your adoption interest, because they are a working breed with, very strong instincts that require a home that can meet their daily needs.
If you can meet all of Coralines requirements, please lodge your interest online.
Medical notes
