Lovely little Flowerpot is a young Catahoula and true to her breed, she is highly active, super intelligent and eager to learn. “Pots” is inquisitive about the world around her and always looking for a good time from the minute her eyes open. Her favourite things are lightning-fast zoomies with a friend. She enjoys her long daily walks and is great on a lead with gentle encouragement not to pull. She loves to sniff everything and take in everything around her. She enjoys playing with toys and hasn’t destroyed any. Brain training toys don’t keep her occupied for too long before she is bored with them, preferring to run and play. She loves carrot treats or dog usual bikkies as treats during training.
She is currently in care with another Catahoula mix male dog with access to a large rural property where they spend most of the day running and playing. So it will be imperative that her new home has a resident mentor dog with equal energy levels and a must that she has a large yard or property for them to run, as well as daily exercise/walks. After a long busy day of exploring, playing, running and chasing, her next favourite thing to do after dinner is to snuggle on the couch with her human. A couple of after dinner toilet trips outside and she then settles down for a good night's sleep.
Given her size, she would be better suited to a home with children 10yrs and over. She can be quite shy meeting new people but warms up quickly when a few treats are offered on greeting.
Her ideal family would be an active family who are prepared to dedicate time to ongoing training with lots of physical and mental stimulation. Large dog experienced with an equal sized resident mentor dog are a must. Ideally, puppy school would be the perfect start where socialisation is encouraged to continue both with people and dogs. (She doesn’t like dogs up in her face and may nip if cornered by them). Otherwise, Flowerpot is a very bouncy, happy girl who is responding well to commands of sit, with wait and stay still a work in progress. She travels beautifully in the car with a halter seat belt clip. Secure, high fences and a large yard are a must as she is a bit of a Supergirl and can do big leaps in a single bound. Due to her inherent prey drive, she's not suited to cats, pocket pets or poultry. Her foster family has ponies and goats in the paddocks on their property which she has been happy to just sit and watch them. Farm fencing may tempt her to explore further, though has not been tested at her current placement where she has constant supervision when outside.
A soft gentle soul with as much energy as the love she has to give. If you think this sweet girl is the one you and your family are seeking, she is waiting to be your best Furever Girl. She truly is a fantastic girl with so much potential.
