About Jim
Jim is ready to start taking EOI, please note before going any further that he will only go to a home with maremma experience and land.
Jim is your typical maremma, he’s cautious of people but slowly over the time he’s been in care he’s coming out of his shell. He will come close to people and sometimes ask for a pat before going off and patrolling the yard again.
Before coming into care he was housed with her siblings on property where they were in training to protect sheep and chickens.
Jim will need further training of course be that obedience or training to protect stock. Please note that he is only 6 months old so can’t just be left out with stock on his own.
While in care Jim has been sleeping with his siblings in a dog run, he has met children and while cautious he was well mannered.
Jim is working on lead manners and is doing well with this. He has been around other dogs and has met the farm cats (supervision is of course recommended with any new environment)
If you are looking for a pet that will guard stock at the same time, Jim might be the fella for you.

* Please note, this is not a contract or agreement of any kind, only expression of interest in our dog. We will not conduct any meet and greets unless this form has been filled out and submitted for review. Only approved applicants will get to meet our dogs. *
Once approved you will be contacted by a team member and can organise a time best suited to meet with the carer and dog. If you have other dogs they must also be at the meeting, including any children in the immediate family.
Before applying please consider the following:
• real estate approval if renting
• any fencing repairs that may need to be done
• outside shelter
• breed knowledge
• do you have enough time for the breed of dog you are applying for?
If you and the dog get along, you have to option of taking the dog on the spot (at this time you will need to pay the full adoption price and sign the adoption agreement) You will then get a 2-week trial with the dog, during this time should things not work out you are to return the dog to Dusty Paws Dog Rescue. You will then receive a full refund; less $50 admin fee within 7 business days of the return of the dog.
