About Zena

Zena is beautiful long-haired German Shepherd; she is 8 years old and is just the most divine dog who everyone falls in love with. Zena found herself needing our help after her owners decided to move into a CBD apartment and left Zena behind, they are truly missing out on the best dog, their loss will be someone else’s gain. Zena has been in foster care the past few months and is now ready to find her perfect forever home.
When Zena first came into our care, she was a little shy and understandably confused, after a few days, once she was comfortable, this girl let her true personality shine through a cuddly love-bug that wants attention from anyone and everyone! Zena loves meeting new people and thinks that visitors are the best thing ever, especially when they play with her and offer delicious treats. Zena has met small children and was perfectly behaved in their presence; she would suit most family dynamics.
Zena loves to love, she doesn’t have much in the way of personal space, you better believe she is going to share your bed and the couch, whether you like it or not! Zena just loves being around her people and is used to having someone home most of the time, she would do best in a home where someone is home often, or where she can come with you on adventures and errands.
Zena knows her basic commands and is a good girl that does what she is told, she enjoys learning new things and is always up for a treat. Zena is very chilled and mellow; she is happy with a big walk each day and then is happiest just hanging out at home with her people.
Zena gets along well with other dogs; she has regularly interacted with another German Shepherd and is very comfortable in his presence. Zena would be happy living with another male dog of similar temperament, she would also be more than satisfied as your one and only centre of attention. Zena has been interested in chasing cats, she may be able to be integrated with a confident cat that will not run, however slow integration and separation would be necessary.
Zena is living with a degenerative spinal condition that causes her pain, she is on pain relief which manages this well. Zena will at times need help getting into the car or up on the couch on bad days, but on her good days, she does zoomies and acts like a puppy again. Zena will need to remain on pain relief for the rest of her life, this will be managed and provided by GSRV.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
Mature (1 year to 6 years) - $600
Senior (7 years plus) - $350
