About Pete
Polite and placid Pete is looking for a peaceful and patient forever home.
Enjoying life in the slow lane is Pete's specialty, a short walk or two, a couple of toys to shake, and a nice quiet spot to roach the day away is all this handsome lad needs. A champion snoozer, Pete is also happy to spend time on his own, and would be fine with humans who have a hybrid working schedule - a day or two by himself just means more quality time to nap!
An affectionate and smoochy boy, once Pete gets to know you he will happily hold you hostage to keep delivering those pats, waving his paws in the air if he feels he is not getting sufficient attention. He is also sweet and gentle with his greyhound foster brother, sharing beds, toys, and snacks without complaints.
In new situations Pete can be a bit reserved, eventually his curiosity gets the better of him, but he just needs the time and space to warm up. Sometimes things are scary for reasons that remain a mystery to his human companions, like taking a few days to build up the courage to cross a threshold into a new room, and sometimes the scary things are a bit more understandable like noisy cars and trucks, but at all times this stoic boy remains calm in the face of danger (real or imagined) and takes comfort from having his loving humans by his side.
Pete's not really looking for people who are interested in adopting to improve their fitness, a slow stroll to break up the day is more his speed, and he will stop to say hello to anyone he passes (human or canine) - after all what is the point of leaving the house if not to make new friends and see old ones?! For this reason we think he will thrive best with access to a yard or outdoor area, so he can still have the enrichment of time spent in the sunshine and fresh air, even if he's not in the mood to get out and about walking.
Pete can't wait to meet his perfect people, and we just know in the right home with time and patience his confidence will grow.

Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, some can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour.
As a result we look to rehome dogs into households where they are not left on their own for more than 4 hours per day on a regular basis, without either people or another dog for company. We are happy discuss strategies such as a dog walker or doggy day care. Going to work with you is also a great option
