About Shadow
Introducing Shadow!
Shadow is a Staffy x Corgi born 1st January 2023.
Shadow was brought in as an unmicrochipped stray. When he was found you could see every rib & hip bone and he had scabs all over him. We were quickly able to find his owner who surrendered him for rehoming. His surrender profile states he is not house trained, he is friendly with other dogs but hasn't been tested with cats or children. It does say he's protective of his food, however this could be due to the fact he was literally starving.
Since being at the facility Shadow has been enjoying 3 small meals a day to safely increase his weight. He's incredibly sweet & loves a gentle scratch.
Shadow was hit & miss with his dog testing. He was reactive when testing him with a large male dog, however he was much more calm & relaxed when being introduced to a smaller female. He did try to push the limits of his friendliness by trying to hump her, but no aggression or reactivity was seen. If you have a friendly, small female dog at home, we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Shadow tested well with cats. He seemed very interested when first introduced, but he could be pulled away & distracted. When our resident cat gentle lifted his foot to reach out to him, Shadow ducked and scrambled to get away from him. We feel that with a slow & controlled introduction Shadow could be suitable to live with cats.
**Please note our cat testing is done through an enclosure. We cannot guarantee his reaction to cats free roaming in from of him.
We are recommending a home with no pocket pets.
Shadow has shown no signs of food aggression or separation anxiety while being at the facility.
Shadow's adoption fee is $500 and includes his desexing and lifetime registration.
Shadow has been treated for flea and worms and is up to date with his vaccinations.

If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
