BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE as an owner surrender
BREED: Dachshund The Wiener or Sausage Dog was first bred to hunt tunnelling animals like rabbits or foxes shows the Dachshund has a sense of courage to outmatch its size. Dachshunds are devoted, playful, stubborn, willful and active who form strong bonds with their humans. They are known for their bark so need space from neighbours, are good family dogs but cautious of strangers. Their watchful nature makes them alert and good watchdogs. ****************************************************************************
ASSETS: Easy-going, affectionate, devoted, eager to please, friendly, laidback, quiet, sweet and playful! She’s a very lovable girl with a beautiful personality.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Willow loves to get out and about for car rides and play with Bart and the other dogs in her foster home. She’s very devoted to her human and loves having a cuddle on a lap.
ENDEARING FEATURES: She’s a complete cuddle monster!
OTHER ANIMALS: Liza is bonded with Bart and also enjoys the company of other friendly dogs. She shows a bit too much interest in cats so we would prefer her to be in a dog-only home.
GENERAL INFO: Liza would benefit from some lead training as she pulls on the lead at the moment when walking. She’s housetrained and rarely barks. She has a medium energy level and knows a few commands.
ESSENTIALS for Liza:
** A loving home with someone who can be with her for a good part of the day or can take her with them when they go out.
** She will need daily exercise, playtime and mental activity. A home that is willing to involve her in daily activities is essential for her.
** Liza needs a fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things to sniff and explore.
**Liza needs to be allowed inside the home when you are there and to sleep inside at night. Liza could live with dog-savvy, gentle older children who will be able to read her signals and engage with her on a daily basis.
