About Bart
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Bart (Bonded with Liza)
BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE as an owner surrender
BREED: Dachshunds The Wiener or Sausage Dog was first bred to hunt tunnelling animals like rabbits or foxes shows the Dachshund has a sense of courage to outmatch its size. Dachshunds are devoted, playful, stubborn, willful and active who form strong bonds with their humans. They are known for their bark so need space from neighbours, are good family dogs but cautious of strangers. Their watchful nature makes them alert and good watchdogs. *********************************************************************
ASSETS: Easy-going, affectionate, eager to please, friendly, active and playful! He’s a very lovable boy with a gorgeous personality.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Bart loves to get out and about for car rides, do zoomies round the house and play with Liza and the other dogs in his foster home. He’s very devoted to his human and adores cuddles on the couch.
ENDEARING FEATURES: He ‘talks’ to you and loves to be wherever you are, so will follow you around the house.
OTHER ANIMALS: Bart is bonded with Liza and also enjoys the company of other friendly dogs. He shows a bit too much interest in cats so we would prefer him to be in a dog-only home.
GENERAL INFO: Bart would benefit from some lead training as he pulls on the lead at the moment when walking. He’s housetrained and will bark at noises or when someone is at the door. He has a medium energy level and knows a few commands. Bart can be reactive/bark if exposed to unknown people, animals or environments, we feel this is partly due to lack of previous good exposure but also the bold Dachshund temperament.
ESSENTIALS for Bart:
** A loving home with someone who can be with him for a good part of the day or can take him with them when they go out.
** He will need daily exercise, playtime and mental activity. A home that is willing to involve him in daily activities is essential for him.
**Bart needs a fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things to sniff and explore.
**Bart needs to be allowed inside the home when you are there and to sleep inside at night. Bart could live with dog-savvy, gentle older children who will be able to read his signals and engage with him on a daily basis.
He is bonded with Liza so they will need to be rehomed together, and he would love to be able to meet and play with other friendly dogs on a regular basis. If Bart sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we’ll be in touch soon.
