About Mate
All About Me and My Unique Personality:
Mate really is a very special little guy. He is a happy go lucky boy who is just a delight! He is friendly, affectionate and always eager to brighten up your day.
He has a cheerful and playful personality with a wagging tail that doesn't stop! He is the perfect companion dog who bonds very quickly with his humans, both old and young.
Mate is extremely affectionate and follows you everywhere. He thrives on a close connection with his people and is always on the hunt for cuddles and pats. He is a typical small dog who has to have one part of his body touching you at all times. His favorite spot is your lap.
You can take Mate anywhere and he is always perfectly behaved. He loves going for walks and adventures. He is a superstar in the car and will happily jump up and into his crate, excited to be out and about. He is very easy to walk and loves saying hello to anyone who will stop to give him a pat. He is also extremely dog friendly and calmly introduces himself and ignores those that are a bit over excited.
Mate is comfortable in any social setting and is the best cafe dog. His friendly, calm and adaptable nature make him the perfect companion for hanging out in cozy cafes. Mate will happily lay down on his mat and watch the world go by while you have your coffee and a chat. Mate has also spent the morning in a dog friendly office where he was very well behaved and enjoyed all of the attention.
Mate is toilet trained, can use a doggy door, sleeps quietly through the night in his bed, knows sit, down and takes treats very gently. Mate is always eager to please so will ace any further training.
My Ideal Home:
Since coming into care, Mate has hit the ground running. He is an extremely adaptable little guy who absolutely loves everyone he meets. He is very well behaved and very gentle. He really is suitable for just about any home and any family.
Mate would love to live with a doggy pal, but could happily be an only dog if his family included him in their adventures and he was a major part of the family, as he is all about his people.
Mate's ideal home will be with a family who will commit to continuing socialisation, training, exercise, play and walks. He will need to be welcomed into the family home and share in your adventures. Mate will also need to be an inside/outside dog with a bed inside at night.
What is Known About My Background:
Mate was rescued from an animal shelter as a stray.
How Do I Interact with Kids, Dogs, Cats and Other Pets:
Mate loves all dogs! They can be big, small, old or young. He is currently living with three small senior dogs and enjoys hanging out with them and sleeping in the same bed.
When Mate meets a dog for the first time, he is very polite and calm when saying hello. If a dog barks at him or is too over excited, Mate simply walks by with no reaction. He also enjoys a quick play with other dogs before returning to his humans.
Mate is currently living with two kids that are 8 and 9 and absolutely adores children of any age. He is always interested in what they are doing and will follow them everywhere. He is happy to be handled, very gentle and will take pats and cuddles all day long.
Mate was also cat tested while at the shelter and passed with flying colors. We believe that he will be able to live with a feline friend following a proper introduction.
