About Middy
Are you currently searching for a delightful little companion that meets all your criteria?
Look no further because we have the perfect match for you—our sweet and charming girl, Middy!
This gorgeous young girl is a English Staffy x we think Heeler and just a small med size only weighing in at 14 kilos so will be a smaller size med a full growth
Middy is an adorable little pup with an endearing head tilt, always listening intently to every word you say. She embodies the classic puppy energy, making her an incredibly fun and lively dog to be around. Middy absolutely loves company and is full of appreciation for the attention she receives. Whether she’s playing with her toys or simply following you around, she is a constant source of joy. Her happy face is sure to bring a smile to yours.
Middy is affectionate and loves to give kisses, jumping for joy whenever you come to greet her. Like most dogs, her favorite pleasures include going for walks and enjoying her meals, closely followed by chewing on her beloved rubber toys. When given the opportunity, Middy will eagerly cuddle and shower you with kisses. If not, she will happily follow you around the yard, finding fun things to do on her own.
She has a strong love for food, making her extremely easy to train using treats. Middy is content to entertain herself in the yard and enjoys her own company. She thoroughly relishes her morning and afternoon walks, taking in all the delightful smells along the way.
Middy is a people-pleaser through and through. She adores her human companions and can get quite jumpy when excited. However, she can easily be directed into a seat, although her bum will still wiggle with excitement. She is full of love and enthusiasm for her people, making her a delightful addition to any family.
Giddy Middy can be quite intense when interacting with other dogs due to her overwhelming excitement. She hasn’t yet mastered the art of reading social cues, so some of the more mature dogs in the home have had to put her in her place. However, she shows no aggression, only an eagerness to play, much like a little toddler on a sugar high. Middy would be best suited to a home with a male dog that has plenty of energy to match hers, as she loves doing her zoomies with her little pug friend.
Middy is currently learning several commands, including sit, drop, leave it, ahaah, come, and wait. Her recall is impeccable in low-stimulus environments, and she has shown no desire to chase things she shouldn’t. She has been exposed to various distractions such as trains, cars, runners, and cyclists, and remains very well-behaved on walks. Middy strolls along at a sensible pace without pulling and will lie on her mat in the evening while her family watches TV.
Middy is in heaven when given a peanut butter-filled KONG toy, closing her eyes with happiness as she licks the delicious treat.
Being a young dog, she will find things to chew in the yard, so continued training is necessary to teach her what is acceptable to play with (toys) and what is not (sticks and other such items). It is advisable to avoid all soft or rope toys that can be ripped or pulled apart, as pups can ingest things they shouldn’t during this chewing phase.
Middy is the perfect pooch when left home alone. She does not bark and remains very quiet throughout the day, spending most of her time snoozing on her outside bed. She is always walked or given some form of obedience training before being put outside. Most of the time, she sleeps quietly without making a peep. Occasionally, you may hear her throwing around one of her toys and zooming around the yard. It is advised that Middy does not have access inside due to still being a pup who can get into mischief. Her outside area should have KONGs and hard chew toys only, which we recommend continuing.
Sleeping: Middy sleeps in a crate and is as quiet as a mouse. She happily goes into her crate each night without any fuss.
Middy is excited when given the opportunity to play with another dog. She will jump, lick, and want to be as close as possible to them! She will need to learn dog etiquette and have further exposure to dogs in a controlled environment to understand proper dog behaviors. Middy tends to get right in other dogs’ faces, so it is best to have her play with one dog at a time that has similar energy levels. On walks, she has been working on walking past other dogs without interacting and is doing well with commands like “leave it” or “ahaah.”
Middy has two meals a day, which she is hand-fed as part of her daily training. This helps teach her commands like mat, come, wait, and free. She is eager to please and loves her training sessions.
Middy has a short, easy to care for coat
She does have the odd accident inside but is able to hold on all night. If she is toileted first thing in the morning and a few times throughout the day and at night, this is not an issue.
Middy is an excellent passenger in the car. She settles in quickly and remains quiet throughout the entire ride.
Middy will thrive in a home that establishes a structured routine with daily exercise and plenty of enrichment activities. She loves to chase, jump, and play with squeaky toys, so a family with older children would be ideal. Given that she is still a noticeably young dog, she will need the continuation of her current obedience training.
Middy loves to run around, so a home with a reasonable amount of grass space and a safe, secure area would be perfect. She would love to be a part of her family, so we are seeking a home where she is allowed inside.
Please note that apartments or homes with small yards will not be considered. Middy is a delightful, energetic, and loving pup who will bring immense joy to the right family. She is eager to please, easy to train, and full of love and excitement for her human companions.
If you think your home could be the perfect fit for Middy, we would love to hear from you!
