Bindi

HOUSEHOLD- Meet Miss Bindi, a lovely young lady who has proved herself to be happy, affectionate and curious in all the right ways. She is currently looking for a dog experienced home who has some extra time to help her continue to build her confidence and obedience training repertoire because she has not yet had a chance to do so. Due to her cautious nature we would be recommending a more mature, quieter home potentially with no children but we will continue to assess this while she is with us and update her profile as we go.

ON-GOING TRAINING- Bindi is highly food motivated and the prime candidate for on-going training. She can ‘Sit’ on command and knows her name but has not yet learned much else. She does recall pretty well when on lead and appears to thrive on the human interaction and contact that may make her love of training stronger in the future.

ON LEAD- Bindi can be strong on lead and will require an owner who is willing to help her learn appropriate leash manners so that everyone can enjoy the walk! Her new owners will need to be aware that she can find some new adventures scary but responds well to support from a human carer or fellow canine companion.

PLAY/TOYS- In the facility Bindi is still alittle unsure about showing her true play style. She is always keen to interact with people she knows and has been known to occasionally carry a soft toy or two in her mouth but has not yet been keen to play too rough. With time, we may see more into her favourite play styles.

OTHER DOGS- Bindi has shown herself to have pretty good social dog manners. While she can pull towards them on lead and become vocal in response to vocals from other dogs, up close she has shown us no concerning behaviours. She LOVES walking with a fellow canine companion and takes great confidence when they are near. She appears to be social enough to live with another dog and would just require a meet and greet prior to adoption to make sure they get along well. While she has shown herself to be dog social at the facility we unfortunately cannot test for group dog settings such as a visit to the dog-park or beaches. If you were hoping to visit these places we would recommend postponing your trip till around 3mths post adoption until she has had time to settle in and feel comfortable with her recall commands and bond with her new family.

CATS/OTHER ANIMALS- At this stage Bindi has only shown minimal interest towards some birds when they took flight out on a walk. We will continue to test her with other small creatures and update this profile as needed.

CARE/GROOMING- Bindi’s will require weekly brushing, monthly bathing and monthly nail clips to keep her feeling her best. She will need her new owners to understand that she needs time to enjoy handling and grooming and may need some co-operative care training to help her do so.

EXERCISE/NUTRITION- Bindi has a moderate to high-energy requirement of 1-2 walks daily as well as games or time spent with her in the backyard. Due to her high food drive snuffle mats, licki mats may be a great addition to her routine for mental stimulation and she has not been fussy at the facility enjoying her 2 meals daily along with a variety of treats and chews.
